Drums like Pvd and Askew

I need an drum Vst which have drums like pvd,

Why don't you ask him, I'm sure he'll give away his samples

they are quite easy to sample, most of my tracks use a kick that i've nicked from pvd, infact i have a folder c:/production/bd/pvd lol

They both use very simple 909 hats and claps. Their kicks are made up of 7 or 8 different kicks and then Eqed and compressed with a bass compressor more than likely.

What's a 909, I�m a N0000b!

Its a hardware drum machine by Roland. It provides the "standard" drum sounds for most dance/trance tracks. You can get samples from it from pretty much anywhere

you can pick up a 909 on ebay or get a sampler wich u can then import ur on audio files

The bass part of any of these kicks can be made with any shitty assed 909 emulator in 30 seconds. The "thickness" comes from the snare-like mids in the kick, which you can either sample incredibly easily, or play around with yourself by taking a similar sounding snare, cutting it off <800hz or so, and then EQ'ing/Compressing the shit out of it till you get that THWACK type sound they achieve.

Is there a specific bass compressor PVD would use or would Waves C1 or fruitys internal compressor do the trick?

Of course he's got some nice hardware compressors (likewise, so does armin), but you can get some pretty good results with software compressors I'm sure. If you use reason, try taking a kick with nice lows that occur at the initial punch of the kick, not where the kick starts with mids and has lows 20 ms later (those are so annoying, stop making them whoever you are, assholes), and add compressor after compressor after eq after compressor after eq after...you get the point. Add a second sample for different frequencies to add to the kick and really get experimental. The only rule to making a good kick: there are none, shwing!

Really, im not sure what he uses to compress the bass on his kicks. There are plenty of good software ones about that do just the same for a fraction of the price. And to go with that... "its not what you've got, its how you use it!"
