Bush's War on Terrorism - Update April 2005

So how is ol' Bush's War on Terrorism going so far? Seems to be a fair question, given the fact that this was pretty much THE primary issue that Bush ran on for the election.

Well the WaPost has some latest polls, which overall continue to trend pretty shitty for Dubya. The only bright spot, the only one which he can continue to hang his hat on the majority here is his war against terrorism:

A. Social Security
Approve - 31
Disapprove - 64

B. Iraq
Approve - 42
Disapprove - 56

C. Economy
Approve - 40
Disapprove - 57

D. Terrorism
Approve - 56
Disapprove - 41

E. Energy Policy
Approve -35
Disapprove - 54

And before anyone dismisses this poll as "partisan" or "liberal", these numbers trend very closely to pretty much every other poll out there right now.

But back to terrorism, it continues to seem to be the one bright spot for Bush right now, right?

It later said the number of people killed and injured in 2003 was more than double its original count and said "significant" terrorist attacks -- those that kill or seriously injure someone, cause more than $10,000 in damage or attempt to do either of those things -- rose to a 20-year high of 175.

Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., who was among the leading critics of last year's mix-up, reacted angrily to the decision.

"This is the definitive report on the incidence of terrorism around the world. It should be unthinkable that there would be an effort to withhold it - or any of the key data - from the public. The Bush administration should stop playing politics with this critical report."

It's impossible for Bush to be re-elected again. There's a two term limit on Presidancies .

Anyway besides the amazing revelations by Shakka.....this storey has legs....its being widely reported in Europe as well....dont think this one is going to be buried on page nine or something....but im glad for Shakka...i feel good for the guy...denial is a terrible state of mind......

It doesn't really matter how much it is reported, and how bad the GOP looks like in the eyes of the world. Before the next election some fundie is going to bring up that gays are *still* allowed to go near churches, the democrats will state that they should be allowed to, and the GOP candidate will be voted into office. Simple as that.
