Philadelphia trance dj's
So who are the Philly trance dj's and where do they usually spin? I heard a set from DJ Tommy Boy once but I dunno if I would consider what I heard, trance. Sounded more progressive...
Besides Tommyboy & MacGuyver,
Trance2Dance2 guys have a monthly party 3rd Saturday of every month @ Metro Lounge. There are too many of them to name and I don't want to leave anyone out...
Also, look out for the Vision parties @ Metro the second Saturday of every month for up and coming dj's, like rtyas. First Friday of every month at Emerald City usually has some trance. DJ Lam has a killer opening set if you can get there early.
Other than that, Mike Myers is good but I only see his name once every 6 months or so
Oh, I forgot Chad Cantley @ Lounge 125 on Monday nights and I think the last Thursday of every month.
There are also random parties like Connect @ Chrome this Thursday that have a lot of local trance djs.
Now, this may sound like one of my stupid questions but I am gonna ask it anyway. Is it the type of bangin trance you would expect to hear from a Corsten or PvD set or is watered down trance for those in the bar who may not be interested?
Tommyboy and Macguyver are the two that come to mind. Mike myers i haven't heard since he closed for Tiesto at Pure but it was pretty good. If you love trance music i don't think that you will be completely blown away by them, definitely not Ferry or PVD, but they are ok i guess, IMO. u may enjoy them.
I agree with what the others said...trance is just starting to grow more popular in philly. Philly has always been a HOUSE only city. But thanks to people like tommyboy and others who are tryin to run more trance events, things should keep coming in the future.
I have been tryin for a while now to get a consistent gig, mmight have something coming up in the summer.
All i know if philly could use more supporters of trance...thats for sure.

Couldn't agree with you more.
that would be a tough one.... philly is run by house, techno and now, electro clash
and of course tech-step
