Thumbs up S&D at Ciprani Review

Got in at 2 after waiting an hour & 15 mins. Ciprani is HUGE...caverness, very high ceilings which caused an echo. The acoustics were horrendous & it was too loud. The lighting & lazers were SICK! Sasha destroyed us!
They played a VERY Trancey set...progressive & techy. Sasha would bring it up, to the point of uplifting & then diggers would bring it back down. Great crowd...Big Twilo reunion . Mangladesh in there! I felt like a was at a prom/sweet 16. After 4:30 it was On...Sasha was HARD, relentless...his beats slicing right thru me...violent. Sasha was videotaping the crowd while diggers was playing. Diggers walked thru the crowd a couple of times. The dancefloor was horrible! They taped card board down to the carpet it was very hard to jump. At 6 Sasha was throwing down some phat ass breaks. Played 3 mins of Heaven scent (Pob dub) as a tease then the lights came on. Encore: Cosmos- Take me me w/u.
I really couldn't trainspot that many tunes as they were fresh. Coat check was a diaster..stampede. Ran into BigpimpNyc
Breakfast was Krispy Kreme donuts. Getting home was a diaster w/roads closed off cause of the parade & mobs in the street got home at 9:30. I'm more excited for PVD & Tiesto on sat!

Daph, I had heard from Bigpimp that they were letting people in who didn't have tickets first. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of purchasing tickets in advance?! Anyway, I'm glad you had a good time despite some of the downsides to the nite! See ya on Sat! PvD!!

Admission was very unorganized & coat check afterwards was a dangerous stampede. I'm so excited for tomm! I'll call u tomm on the way down.

funny how i was with Bigpimpin (funnyass nick) most of the night but i didnt get to meet you. i was wearing my black Space Ibiza shirt (which btw almost got torn off from all the people grabbing at it!) maybe next time...
my ears were ringing for the next 2days and my ears NEVER ring! Sasha kicked ass. Diggers was way too dark.

Shame / Disagreement Negative Review of Cipriani

I just wrote a negative review of Cipriani on citysearch.com. That'll teach them for messin' with me! Make me wait 2 hours to get in...

Luckily, i only waited an hour on the will call line. i was so thankful i was near the front when i saw where the line ended.
overall the night was great. awesome visuals. sasha and digweed was flawless. the only thing that got annoying was having to buy a token and then using the token to buy water. (for those of you there, you know what i mean)
anyways, i can garuntee they'll never throw another party in cipriani's. you could actually see the workers attitude drastically change by the second.
hahaha sucks to be them.
but it was really good to see alot of old faces. had a fabulous time.
David

I guess you didn't get the email from Made productions that appologized for the poor planing of the S and D event. It was them who hired a security team for the venue and basically the way the whole thing was run all boiled down to them. I don't know how I got on the mailing list lol but somehow I got this email. So it wasn't really Cipriani's fault...more like bad planning on Made's part.

made's apology

Here's the e-mail sent around by MADE Records (I think an apology was necessary....considering how much people paid to get it. Oh by the way, Anthony Pappa + Satoshi Tomiie @ VINYL on Dec 8th!):

The event at Cipriani 42nd Street last Wednesday, Nov 21st was to be a celebration of the return to NYC of Sasha and John Digweed with Jimmy Van M. To most people it was just that. The venue was spectacular and we received much acclaim on the music, visuals and laser. Both Sasha and John felt it was the best date of the tour by far and many people in attendance said it was the best event they had attended this year.
The situation outside the venue from roughly 11:00 PM until 2:00 am however was not at all what we intended. The security screening at the door was handled improperly by personnel that were obviously ill prepared and inexperienced at handling ticket holders in a timely and professional manner. We would like to extend our sincere apologies to all whose spirits were dampened by the security personnel and the long wait caused by them.

As an event producer, there are sometimes unforeseen problems when going into a new venue for the first time. While no security team could have eliminated the wait entirely (remember the lines at Twilo) the long wait some ticket holders had to endure was completely unwarranted. We all understand that in light of the events of recent times we must make adjustments and security measures need to be tightened. Unfortunately the security firm which we had to hire in order to satisfy the venue's concerns did not make adjustments in a very practical manner.
This organization will always strive to put on events of the highest
caliber. Events that are precedent setting. Obviously, hindsight is
twenty/twenty and needless to say, the unfortunate aspects of Nov 21st will not be repeated. Furthermore we are always open to comments or suggestions from our customers and will always listen to any concern or complaint so as to constantly improve upon what we offer to you. Please feel free to send us your thoughts, questions or suggestions to: [email protected][/email].
