King Good techno, as opposed to boring, bad, repetative techno

Tracks like:

Alloy Mental - A-Alloy Mental
Cohen vs Deluxe - Just Kick (Carl Cox mix)
Bigtop - Sub
Chris Liberator and the Drummer - Beethoven and Mozart B1
Mr. Sliff - the Riff
Passive Resistance - Praiseworthy Tunes

Some may be borderline tech-trance or hard trance but it's mainly the first two I'm into.

I knew that was coming. Like I said most of those tracks are borderline tech-trance or house, and that's why I like them. Ones a remake of a classic house track.

I'm very picky with my techno.

does this count as techno?

its the kind of techno i enjoy, that 150bpm clangfest stuff that gets called techno doesnt do it for me as much as ye olde model 500

I'll check it out, thanks.

The only techno type stuff I used to listen too was Picotto but even that has trance elements in some tracks.

Non repetitive techno? Being subtle and repetitive is almost fundamental to this genre

by repetative i mean a 5 minute buildup, followed by a minor change in the song and back to the same 5 minute buildup

yo, how would you classify techno ?
like what would you think the main difference is between trance and techno ...
I'm really into breaks and i reckon thats a sub-category of techno ...
I figured that trance was also a sub-category of techno except maybe it became too big of a genre itself and spawned its own style of music ... well thats my 2 cents

breaks is far from techno and trance is even further, all are forms of EDM (Electronic Dance Music).

It sounds repetitive, but if you stop and listen deeper, you will appreciate the depth.

I thought that it was maybe a live thing, you know like not appreciating it until it's in a club atmosphere. But when I went to see Picotto and heard Marco Carolla open for him I just found myself bored.

Try searching for other techno.

Tim Xavier - Theatre Of Sound
Hertz - Granit
Hardcell & Grindvik - Armada
Taksi Inc - Range
WJ Henze - Delivery Girl

Maybe Acid House, Tech-Trance, or minimal techno is more to your liking, but also, the tracks I listed may appeal to you.

well, it seems like juan atkis was a huge part of defining techno, yet alot of his stuff isnt as reptitive and amusical as things that are in current fashion. I dunno, it doesnt make me feel like dancing, just makes me feel like im stuck in traffic, but the model500 does it for me, cant get "sound of stereo" stuck out of my head.

I agree, and when I heard it live I will admit it sounds better but most tracks do. Carola's set just had me constantly looking at my watch and saying "where the hell is Picotto". He was late by about an hour too and I only caught the first 20 minutes of his set.

the techno song.....Around the world.....SUCKS

Posted by AlphaStarred on Apr-28-2005 05:00:

most contemporary tech is repetitive and annoying. my fav. is older, early 90s tech, but don't even get me started on that...

here's some post-2000 stuff that's still agreeable to the ears:

Tony Rohr - My Mind Is Going Dub
Diego - Instant Reality
Double X - Flashback
Danilo Vigorito - Rephlex
Dirty Bass - Iron Wreck Dream/incl. remixes
Tony Brown - Da Gama's Voyage
Devilfish - Fallen God
Devilfish - Hard At Work
DJ Preach - Stars

i can keep listing, but im not sure exactly what you're looking for. try some of these out and let me know what you think.

btw, although i dont listen to much contemporary tech, Detroit techno is still going strong it seems. Just check out artists like DJ Bone and Claude Young, among many others, who are still banging out wicked releases.

That track should have been labeled Carl Cox mashup, as that's really all it is. Pontape + It Just Won't Do = Just Kick...Cox made it look like he did remix work on an original track.

Thanks, I'll check out the original and fix the track name. He didn't really add all that much if all he did was add those accapella parts although it is pretty effective once it gets to the climax.
