I assume that somebody might already know this.
Thats one scarry story, is it real???
I've heard before that the sarcophagus was poorly built. That's nuts, but the lovely kicker is back a few days after the accident happened.
1 MAY:
Despite clouds of radiation overhead, authorities encourage locals to turn out for May Day parade in nearby Kiev.
Lovely
Aw, swell.
That is absolutely frightening on SO many levels....
just build a larger shell around the original one. Not a really big problem. However, it will cost a substantial amount of money, but considering the alternative, I'm sure that there will be enough international pressure on them to take care of this mess.
have you guys ever seen pictures from the chernobyl rider?
its breathtaking and so eerie all at once.

ABOVE: Present day sarcophagus.
ABOVE: Nearby abandoned town of Solnechny, Belarus.
ABOVE: Abandoned city of Pripyat, near the Chernobyl plant. Radiation levels allow only brief visits to the area.

ABOVE: Special medal awarded to those who fought to bring the fires at Chernobyl under control at a great risk to themselves.
