Review: DJ Aren, Endgame and DJ Ampz @ The Vault, Waterloo

Hah. Looks like I'm first one home and somewhat sober to write this review.

Wow. I arrived at midnight and it was a TA takeover of the Vault.

It was good freaking times, though I only catched part of Endgame's set, but Ampz put down a tune after tune after tune. Some of the tunes I remember were Art of Trance - Veracocha, Members of Mayday - 10in1 (PvD remix), Gouryella - Walhalla, Pvd - Crush, Nu-NRG - Free Fall, Rank1 - Airwave, Young Parisians - Jump the Next Train, Saltwater - Legacy (Alphazone remix), that PvD remix of Time to Die tune or whatever, just to name a few tunes. (thanks barry for playing my requests)

Considering that I was in a kilt, (I got off work where my supreme boss dude made me show up all dressed up) I was a bit... leery about dancing like mad grasshopper in a kilt, but the tunes got me going. (I don't think I... inadvertly caused trauma to anyone)

Good to see a lot of TOTAs coming out, though I didn't get introduced to a lot of you guys. Next time, say hi. Even better to see quite a few of you stay until the end.

Barry, get on the management to get that extra sub.

That was fun.

I'm still drunk.

Give me a break for at least not making a spelling mistake.

But yeah, to mislabel such a classic tune is indeed a blasphemy.

Get ready for another classic LONG post:

OMG I am stunned by the quality of parties that can occur outside of Toronto...I was a complete city slickin' SOB with no expectations of the quality of beats because of being brainwashed by the big names in the big clubs.

I have to honestly say that Kitchener/Waterloo peeps know how to throw a party and leave EACH AND EVERYONE utterly in a state of bliss. NO E required, no alcohol required, as the vibe from the TOTAs completely created a rush for me...being around people you care about (yes, I developed this emotion in the span of a MONTH).

Even though I had to leave early (1:30) I was so impressed that I am going to be a regular at the Vault this summer. Maybe not EVERY Thursday but certainly in a consistent manner. Anyone who has access to a car and says K/W is too far is full of shit...if you are a true TOTA then you belong at this party. I live on the east end of Scarborough (Morningside) and it took me one hour in rush-hour traffic. Ride home was 40 minutes (at 140 km/h).

Tomorrow I will get into the details...LOL! Barry, Tim, Aaron, DJ Aren, MISTA Lowell, Theresa (aka MYSTERIOUS LURKER LOL!! ) Cale, Cam, Tom, JENN (<--more to be said about you but i wanted to say you made my Jenny's night...you are SUPER kind and cool), Celica, Endgame, Karen(bear--sorry Jem!), Kelly (always love your excitement and even Jenny LOVED your hair!!! ), holy shit DAN, Eviltree, Skuce, NuEra, RTT, and of course, FUAD (you're my bro, dude)

More details on each person and the rush on the dance floor and the first time Jenny ventured into this scene will be provided in due course...thank you all!

What a night, what a night...

Hopped in my car and headed toward Waterloo. Caught EVERY red light on the way to the highway, but once I was on the 401 it was clear sailing...averaged about 150km.....until construction! Sat in stop and go for like 20 mins! Gah!

But anyways onto the party....

Waited for Dan, Cale, Karen, Kelly and Andrew in the parking lot behind The Rude Native. Got bored...smoked a joint. Finished it as they pulled in beside me...and in my absent stoner state...lock the keys in my car!! This I didnt realize until I left...

Anyways it was my first time at The Vault, we got in, hit the bar. Everyone oogled my Hoegaarden glass...then ordered one for themselfs! (I belive Dan had 3!)
Good to see everyone! Even better to meet new TAs!!

Excellent tunes all throughout the night! No one was dancing at first, but Drunken Dan started things off after he got a few in him hahaha! After the ice was broken, it was amazing! Excellent atmosphere! I broke quite a sweat!

Took off around 1:45...to discover my keys were in my ignition
Big big shout out to the cop Aaron flagged down who was able to open my door with a coathanger

Drove Aaron home in Guelph then set sail for Mississauga...very tired on the drive home. Cant wait to pass out!

Big big big shouts out to (in no particular order) Dan, Cale, Kelly, Aaron, Karen, Andrew, Fahad...crap I'm so bad with names hahaha...you guys know who you are...thanks for makin it an awesome night!!

This definatly wont be my last time at The Vault

Will post pix tomorrow...now is sleepy time

Later guys

Well I am not the first one to write a review to this amazing night, but amazing definitely is the right word to use!

Being totally unsure about going out in the first place tonight, each and every single one of you made my night. I had such an awesome time and was surrounded by an awesome bunch of TA's!
You best believe I will be making it to the Vault on a regular basis now!

Amazing trance played by all the dj's out tonight!
Dj Ampz.. Great set, you just tore it up...way to keep the crowd movin (even the cops that were behind us were dancing to the beats..hahaha)

I have met so many of you tonight that I am sorry but I am unable to remember each and every single one of you!

Fahad, thank you so much.. It was my pleasure sitting down and talking to both you and Jenny; she is such a sweet girl and I am glad that she made it out to one of these events (even though we know this isn't going to happen on a regular basis for her )

Karen you rock girl! Thanks for comin over and taking the liberty to introduce me to a number of peeps at the beginning of the night.. good luck with the job hunt and the big move!

Kelly.. well we had a lot to say to one another and the chatting just kept on going! I had a blast and it was definitely a pleasure meeting you.. I will no doubt be seeing you at James Holden next Friday.

Cale and Tim.. if it wasn't for you two, I don't think I would have even been out tonight. I had a great time and Cale, don't worry.. I will be there dancing front and centre with you next week again

Dan.. oh man.. you definitely know how to drink and when not to stop...LOL.. I should have warned you sooner... stay away from the Tekillya.. it just isn't good for you... Good times though and I wish I could be joinin you at Viva tomorrow but work calls

Theresa & Lowell.. nice to meet you both.. hope that you enjoyed your bday girl.. It sure was a good one!

I know I am missing a bunch of other TA's, but a girl can only remember so many names in one night.. especially when EVERYONE is new to her I will say that you all made it a great night for me. I appreciated it. You Rock! And I will see ya at the next event!

^^^Dayum can't wait to check them out when I get home.

Yesterday evening started awesome when I picked up my fiancee who had just trained it from Montreal. When I got there, I ran into my best friend who gave me absolutely terrible news. One of our close friends suddenly died from heart failure (25 yrs. old). He was an athlete and we were in utter shock. I was thinking my happiness of seeing Jenny and then my first trip to the Vault were jeapordized, and I would be upset for a while...that was until I got to Waterloo...

I thought I was just picking up DJ Ampz and someone else and that was it...just two people in the back and let's bounce...but no, it was more than that. Barry told me he had his equipment to take, and then I was thinking, "Holy shit...I'm actually giving a DEEJAY a ride, and carrying his equipment, too!" I'm such a naive fuck, I apologize, but I felt that was one of the coolest moments of last night...I felt like I was "contributing" to the underground scene and it really made me feel awesome!!! Thanks, Barry, for giving me that sensation!

So we got there, at the Vault...what an AWESOME looking place. Very trendy and chic...SO much cleaner than the shit we have in Toronto. Jenny loved King St. in general, and we walked outside a couple of times, just soaking in the nice vibe that the town emitted...very romantic! LOL what a CHEESEFEST!!!!

Anyway, went for dinner and met Theresa and MISTA Lowell for the first time...LOL Theresa said Jenny looked like someone famous so I came back at her telling her she kinda looked like Lindsay Lohan!!!! LOL!! (don't worry, Teresita, Lohan is HOT!!)

Then all the other peeps came along...Tygon, Celica, Endgame, SgtFoo (hahaha thought you were Chinese! LOL), and a few other peeps...sorry, can't remember that other guy who was sitting next to Lowell. Lowell, you are fackin hilarious, really nice to chill with you. LOL nice comment on the waitress (who snorts when she laughs LOL!!!! *snort*)

Food wasn't too great; I hope to try out Morty's next time...will hafta get there earlier and chill with ToMaZeE (dude you are fucking cool...gotta hang out with you more often...more on you later). But the triple chocolate brownie at that cafe in Heuther was bloody insane.

Finally get to the Vault. Honestly, can't say enough good things about it. No I am not a promoter. No I haven't been paid. No Barry is not twisting my arm right now (ow..stop it!). This is the type of initmate gathering where you can talk to each other, get to know each other, and just let the beats flow through you in complete trust of one another. What a brilliant concept. That's exactly what I pictured when I see the System Soundbar photos and I just felt so honored to be a part of it.

And then I met all these awesome TOTAs, some for the first time, others just strengthening the relationship...Cale you are one AWESOME dude. (haha those Montreal TOTAs can eat a dick as they read this paragraph). Cam, so glad that you came, you really pick the party up a notch. One of my first sights of the night was seeing DAN the MAN dancing up a storm JUST TO THE WARM-UP beats. He was on fire last night...reminded me of DA MAN himself (Alex). And then saw a few of the beautiful TOTA ladies...Kelly and Karen you two are just so sweet...Kelly, Jenny absolutely loved you and thought you were so cheerful and friendly...thanks again for repeating the story from US7...that was my PROUDEST moment so far being a TOTA!

Jenn, Jenn, Jenn...a whole paragraph needs to be dedicated to you. You had such patience, sitting with me and Jenny (and then I ditched you two to dance and you were still there!) sacrificing valuable dancing time to hang out with my girl to just talk about your passion for trance and help "ease" her into the scene, words can't express my appreciation for that! So many people (poor Lowell and Cam included) don't bring their significant others to these jams b/c they hate the scene or whatever but it takes people like Jenn to totally turn their impressions around. Here's to MANY, MANY, MANY more parties like that, Jenn...LOVE YA!!! I can honestly say I LOVE JENNY!!!! hehehehe Proof of Jenn's impact: Jenny didn't really feel like dancing all night until after Jenn spoke to her and she got right up (and although it wasn't a break-down with crazy moves like Kelly) she was up with me and moving to the beat...way more than I could have ever imagined!!!!

ToMaZeE, pointing up into the lights with you was SOOOOOOOOOOO Decadence 2!!!!! I will never forget your story of AVB's reaction to my completely drug and trance-induced act of lying on my back on the stage in front of him at KH...thank you for reminding me!!!! LOL!!!!

Fuad, I hope we get to spend more time chilling at future events and talking about those very meaningful things in life...Jenny was very impressed (and she doesn't even know what you drive!!!! LOL!!!)

And it goes on and on...can't believe I lasted till 1:30...I wish I could hear the end of Barry's set...it was so kick ass...and Endgame, your classic beats were ridiculous...got the crowd SO PUMPED!!!!

Anyway, I will stop here to your satisfaction...sorry to go so long but my problem is I need to get every ounce of feeling out of my body and on the screen...I am seeking professional help.

^^^
It was all my pleasure!

Jenny is a great girl and I know how uncomfortable it can be when you don't know anyone at all and for that matter just aren't in the so called "scene"!
You are both very amazing ppl and I am glad that you both made it out, and will also totally understand if we don't see Jenny at many of these events either.. gotta get her some vocal trance and get her started on it all
It is nice to know that you can make someone's first experience a good one. Thank you so much for sharing that with me, it means a lot to me!

Good times I tell ya... and many more to come

Edit: really sorry to hear about your friend. That is horrible news

My pictures are uploading as we speak

Many hilarious pics of Dan! That guy was the life of the party!
The only reason I bought him that shot of tequila was cause Kelly and Karen wanted him cut off. I thought I'd make things just a lil more interesting

If someone opened a similar lounge here in west Mississauga, I swear the place would thrive!

BEST part of the night was Dan doin a light show with 2 cell phones HAHAHAHA!! Then he slipped and threw mine! Bastard!

Glad everyone had a great time...and Fahad, take care of Jenny!! I'm gonna try and convert Lisa to the dark side this summer LOL

You KNOW it!!! You should've heard the playlist on the way home: Ridgewalkers, Rachel Starr, Tiesto-Southern Sun, just to name a few and Jenny actually loved them!!!!!!! PHUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
And Jen(one "N" or two?) you really have to stop being such a goddamn sweetheart...I really appreciate your note about my friend...

@Cam, dude...bring Lisa out.

That was the best Vault night ever.

Incredible friends, incredible music, incredible vibe.

Really really nice to finally meet you Jenn (magikb), and Tom (ToMaZeE)!

So great to see people come out from Mississauga and Scarborough for this, Fahad (fayraree) and fianc Jenny, and Fuad (fn_xtc)!

Lowell and Theresa, hope the party was adequate for your early birthday requirements.

Tune-wise: Martin H & Oliver Klein - Club Game (Original mix), Saltwater - The Legacy (Alphazone remix), Rank 1 - Airwave, Push - Universal Nation, Energy 52 - Caf del Mar. Those were the highlights for me.

In addition, I would have been fine if I had just stuck to the beer all night.

Fuad, you should be washing the right side of my car right now, let's just say that Thank you so much though dude - next time it's my turn.
