Shame / Disagreement livesets on ebay

i was checking out ebay and i saw ppl were selling (auctioning)off livesets and burned liveset cds.....

and U, the one reading this right now could be the culprit!!!
i think it's wrong to sell livesets, i mean, they're on the internet to be downloaded for free, and release groups, the webmasters and the artists themselves dont make any money on the livestes, so why the hell should the ppl auctioning them!!!!!

just my opinion, it's called sharing music, NOT selling it......

plz post your opinions.....

>JM<

that is taking the FUCKING piss...

The rippers + uploaders do all the work and try 2 share music with others then these ******s come along and sell em. I would b esp. pissed if i was the DJ as well!

This ia failry big issue, especially with the thing with blackhole recordings. They said the only mp3's they would allow online were livesets, and this could mean the end of that as well. And it is totally wrong to make money off of them.

But there is not much we can do about it. Obviouslky there is a need for livesets, and people will supply to that demad. It just is a shame that further down the line it may effect us

I agree, it really is a bunch of bullshit. I was thinking of doing that a year ago but decided not to because its really stupid...you're really ripping people off.

I once bought some PvD sets off of EBay but they were really rare and couldn't be found on the internet so I can see that being kind of ok but still the guy I bought from was selling copies of other people's works which isn't right.

Posted by Kytracid on Nov-24-2001 00:14:

Selling LiveSets is WRONG !!! The people who do these kinda things don't care about the music all they see is the $$$. I for one would never buy a liveset no matter how rare it is because the chances are the someone somewhere will have it.

Music should be shared (and traded if u really have to)...only producers should sell their music.

My $0.02

i totally agree! i mean, it' OK to sell used records/cd's cos the producers already got their share...but NOT livesets,

i dunno, it's just a shame

If you look these things up on ebay, people have actually placed bids. When I bought mine I had only recently gotten into trance so I didn't know too much...I would never buy that now that I know a lot more.

Selling of live sets has been an issue for many years, it did not start with ebay.com
Over here in the UK, up and down the whole country on a sunday morning we have events in every farmers field, every school yard, anywhere really where there is a huge amount of space , known as the " BOOT SALE ".
this is where ppl pay to park their cars and sell their old crap from home out of the boot (trunk to our US friends) of their car.
And u get a lot of these ppl selling illegal copied CDs, videos, tapes etc, mainly the commercial pop crap but a bit of everything.

There are so many of these sales that the police here cant possibly check them all, so ripped off CDs and live sets are sold all over.

I agree with all of you, that shareing of music is good, but selling copied CD's and livesets is Wrong !
The record companys and producers dont differarentiate between MP3 sharers or cd copiers, they just see it as ppl eating into their profits and of course they want it to stop.

With this happening it's no wonder they record companies and the RIAA tend to pick on the MP3 scene as its easier to close a website or a file share application like napster cos they are more visable and can be traced to a person, than having to scour market places and boot sales.

Maybe they need to start looking at places like ebay and take out the ppl making money from ripping them off, cos we here in the MP3 scene share for enjoyment, not for Profit !

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh haha the good old english car boot sale, full of lots of shit that dont work and moudly tables! ahahahahah! heehheeh!

Posted by tranceDJ on Nov-24-2001 17:30:

Ebay has actually banned the selling of any cd-rs (that was done awhile ago) but they don't it enforce much...probably because it would be very hard to regulate everything sold on ebay considering there are thousands of things.

Posted by RTP on Nov-24-2001 17:35:

Hmmm ... live sets burning on cd and selling them is lame! Cause if many ppl would do that the DJs will say "no, we won't upload any livesets any more, now we gonna sell them for ourselves!" And that would be the end of free online-livesets ... and i dun think any TA would like that, ey?

So the best method against that is not to sell them and not to buy them!

Posted by TranceFusion on Nov-24-2001 18:28:

IM GOING TO FIND EVERONE DOING THIS AND KILL THEM AGHHHHH IF That means the end of live sets on the net someone is going down.

Posted by whiskers on Nov-24-2001 23:28:

Shame / Disagreement

thats is stupid. many livesets are already being blocked on AG. i was amazed by that--no one makes money off of live sets (except for those GU CD's and some of Tiesto's magic stuff, for example)! turns out they do. besides, those are copyrighted tracks that make up a live set. many of my friends at school sell burned cd's at eh... $5 each. personally, i don't like to do it myself and don't like them doing it.

Posted by Spad on Nov-25-2001 01:57:

WARNING - YOU WILL NOT LIKE WHAT I AM ABOUT TO SAY

How much are these CD's going for? I'm sorry but a lot of people are sounding very hypocritical right now. Everybody's sitting here going on about copyright theft and how shit it is that they don't respect the musicians as though the record companies don't give a shit about us distributing our mp3's like we do. Us being the noble robin-hood types bringing trance music to the poor and needy of course.

Hard as it may be to accept, not everybody has access to broadband connections or even an unmetred 56k dialup and this may be the only way they can get hold of the music. If somebody wants to take the time to burn a CD and somebody else is willing the chuck them a couple of quid for the effort then good on 'em both.

Anyway there's my rant...fire away

I hear what yer saying about people not having access to dl stuff but still...people are making money off of others works which is total BS! If somebody didn't have access to dl stuff and wanted it they could have someone send them the stuff and pay them only the price of the postage <--the way it should be. Its complete garbage that they would make a profit of it.

well if they need live sets why dont they sell them for 2 bucks or so becaus 7 bucks is way to much to help the poor. If the live sets are super good quality that would make sense but in this case it doesnt.
