The End of Perfecto

Perfecto Presents Spring Break - Mixed by DJ Skribble

1. Ministers De-La-Funk feat. Jocelyn Brown - Believe (SJS Remix)
2. Deep Dish - Flashdance [Hoxton Whores Remix]
3. Leslie Carter - Don't Stop
4. Exhibit A - G-Minor
5. Sal Basile - Feel It
6. DJ Rooster & Sammy Peralta - Shake It [Steve Angellos ReMode Mix]
7. Morillo feat. Terra Deva - What Do You Want (Part 1) [Fuzzy Hair Crooked Dub]
8. Eric Prydz feat. Adeva - In And Out
9. Reflekt - Need to Feel Loved [Fuzzy Hair Mix]
10. Club 69 - Twisted [Anthony Acid and Peter Bailey Remix]
11. Superchumbo feat. Celeda - Dirtyfilthy [Murk Miami Mix]
12. Harry Choo Choo Romero and Skribble - Feedback
13. Oakenfold - Southern Sun [Skribble & Sal's Sunrise-Sunset Re-Rub]
14. Narcotic Thrust - When the Dawn Breaks [Cicada CD Mix]

I feel dirty even owning anything with a Perfecto label now. God only knows what that remix of Southern Sun sounds like. Why Oakie? For the love of God, Why?

The ironic thing is Amazon.com sent me an email: "We've noticed that customers who have purchased Magik, Vol. 6: Live in Amsterdam by DJ Tisto also purchased the work of DJ Skribble."

God I certainly hope that's not true.

The Hoxton Whores remix of Flashdance owns. That's the only one I've heard I believe though.

yes i recieved a similar email from amazon and deleted it with disgust. it's not about pigeonholing, im sure the CD is quite entertaining to the uninitiated ear. it's that Oakey would associate with DJ skribble. i compare this to Monet ordering a painting from Munch. Much worse than the popularized, MTV ready EDM you will hear on this mix is that people here in the states will now associate Southern Sun with Skribble. Indeed they might associate the whole CD with him, mistaking him for the producer (believe me this happens!!) and what ends up happening is i have to explain to some poor chump here in Louisville KY why skribble is not a good DJ.
"oh yeah i heard skribble's band does some cool trance songs" is an expression i am afraid of hearing, and with some justification after this release in my area. After all, trance is already represented here by Dj Sammy.

I think people are really missing the point - personally I'm not concerned with the guys history because he's not a household name here in the UK (sure I've head of him cause of his mixes of Grace and Mr Reds), but instead what really matters to me is weather the CD is any good or not - gotta say I'm curious about the southern sun remix!

are you serious? alls you can come up with to say that you are not pigeon holing skribble is that you fear others will think he produced the tracks on his cd.....

isn't that a problem with any mix cd, including oakenfold's. I always wondered why a lot of producers use aliases, now I really see why.

the man's roots are in hip-hop/pop music, people. get a clue. he worked with jazzy jeff in the way way back.

Posted by MR STROKE on May-03-2005 06:22:

wow...can;t belive they put skribble on perfecto....to his credit the guy has been around for YEARS!! but from what i hear he sucks ass...i guess only way to see is to listen to the cd....i can tell u one thing though, by looking at the tracklisting skribble has changed his style alot, maybe he's trying to break out of the "MTV spring break" scene he has been in for years

not too bad, this guy might actually open up a whole new genre to those who normally listen to his older stuff.

he is

There's actually some decent tracks on there. Some of them I'm not so sure about but it will probably be better than a number of comps that have been coming out lately. And, no, I won't name names.

Posted by montana on May-03-2005 14:41:

the tracklist is interesting, might pick this up

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-03-2005 14:43:

w/e it looks fine...

Posted by Lebezniatnikov on May-03-2005 15:22:

I've only heard one of the tracks on the album like I said, but if the rest of the album is anything like Deep Dish - Flashdance (Hoxton Whores Remix), I'm definitely picking it up.

I'm sure the mixing won't be fantastic... but after all, it's a Perfecto release.

I hate MTV just as much as the next guy, and can't stand club dj's that play only hip-hop.. but if this guy is making a serious effort to change up his style a bit... he's got me intrigued.

Tongy always said, Skribble was the next big thing in the States via MTV and he was right. Oakenfold ain't stupid and this should impress the fickle American market. Oakenfold may be a crackhead and total ego maniac but he certainly knows what crap people will buy.
