Emotional Songs
I was just driving home, listening to the Ferry Corsten Essential Mix (2004), and one of my favorite tracks came on Ferry Corsten vs. The Thrillseekers - Sublime. That song always makes me sad...I don't know why. To me it just seems like there's a lot of emotion in the song. Maybe it's just b/c I'm a really emotional person. But the song, to me, sounds really soft, but intense...and sad. There are other songs too that I think are just so uplifting...and others that are just plain down and dirty. I think that so many emotions can be brought out in EDM.
Do any songs come to mind that you feel have a lot of emotion?
EDM songs??
PvD - Autumn
Underworld - 8 Ball
Underworld - Jumbo
Orbital - Halcyon & On & On
come to mind
gotta go for the classics
But C-Quence - Endorphine is a great new track with with a very emotional edge.
c- bank - one more shot
reminds me of drinking to solve my problems
most solarstone tracks
envio - touched by the sun
rank1 - breathing(breaks)
sirocco - destination
chicane - saltwater

I'm gonna add some more.
I'm trying to spread across more genre's of EDM than the emotional trance scene.
Massive Attack - Teardrop (the main melody is performed on a HARP!!)
Moby - God Moving Over the Face of the Waters (pure soundtrack emotional drive)
Sigur Ros - Njosnavelin (it's actually an 'untitled' track on their 'untitled' album, but this is it's proper name)
Sigur Ros - Staralur (the singing's a bit much but the music is spine tingling)
Enigma - Return to Innocence (As cheesy as this is, EVERYBODY had a softspot for it)
Depeche Mode - Useless [Kruder & Dorfmeister sessions] (triphop at its finest)
Portishead - Beautiful (Many unforgettable nights to this tune...
)

I really like a lot of the stuff on:
when Trance music sounds opera... Classic Trance
01. Rank 1 - The Anthem 2003 (Original mix)
02. Midor and six4eight - 7th Heaven (Original mix)
03. Rollerball - Albinoni (Above and Beyond remix)
04. Aria - Dido (Armin van Buuren Universal Religion remix)
05. William Orbit - Barber's Adagio for Strings (Ferry Corsten remix)
06. Alchemic - Baccharia (Original mix)
07. Shane 54 - Vampire (Original mix)
08. Gouryella - Ligaya (Original instrumental mix)
09. Airbase - Theme from the Rock (Original mix)
10. Aces Delight - Mental Theme (Ultra Trance mix)
Also Tiesto's Forever Tomorrow is a great track.
re: Portishead
non-EDM: Ben Harper- she's only happy in the sun....
One More Time - Daft Punk
Most if not all music is supposed to invoke some sort of emotional response in us. Trance even more so than others.
Trance tranceports us into another world!
Speaking of tranceport, gotta put on some Paul Oakenfold.
On a High by Duncan Sheik - G&D remix
In Your Eyes by Peter Gabriel (a classic, but can get you everytime)
Return to Innocence - totally agree on this one
Deliver Me by Sarah Brightman
Beautiful Things by Andain - G&D remix
Bizarre Love Triangle covered by Frente
I Love You by Sarah McLachlan
Precious Things by Tori Amos
Home by Sheryl Crow
Hyperballad by Bjork
And the biggest tearjerker EVER....
With or Without You by U2
As I keep getting more into house music (damn you Darren!), I still listen to my trance/lowkey music at night. Trance is truly a beautiful music in that it can take you away to another world - the Blackout (you know the one) contains one of the most memorable evening in existence highlighted by trance, Portishead, Tori Amos, etc.
BURNED WITH DESIRE - AVB (rising star remix)
MADAGASGAR - ART OF TRANCE (Corsten remix)
MOOGWAI - VIOLA
C-SHARP - THE QUEST
LOVE WASHES OVER - ART OF TRANCE
HELLO STRINGS - SYNERGY
WINTER - MAX GRAHAM FEAT DT8 PROJECT.
ANDAIN - BEAUTIFUL THINGS/SUMMER CALLING
MOTORCYCLE - AS THE RUSH COMES
PPK - RESURRECTION
NO ONE ON EARTH - ABOVE AND BEYOND
FOR AN ANGEL - PVD

PACIFIC STATE - 808 STATE
ORB - LITTLE FLUUFY CLOUDS
COMING ON STRONG - SIGNUM
BT - DREAMING
BT - REMEMBER
TILT - INVISIBLE
LOST WITNESS - HAPPINESS HAPPENING
ANGELIC - IT'S MY TURN
just a smattering of tracks that bring me joy - whenever I hear them...melodic, serene and beautiful timeless classics IMO!!!
haunting and poignant -

Svenson - Sunlight Theory (Ozone remix)
Rank 1 - Airwave (Original mix)
Gouryella - Ligaya (Original mix)
Agnelli & Nelson - Holding On To Nothing
Yahel - Voyage
salt tank - eugina
jase from outta space - do what you want (infusion's sky mix!)
bt - flaming june
ascension - someone
pvd - for an angel (e-werk club mix)
none of these come close to:
perpetuous dreamer - sound of goodbye
Dj tiesto - Ur
Ridgewalkers - Find
PVD - Time of our Lives
Andain - Summer's calling (josh gabriel mix)
Dj tiesto - Adagio for strings
Solid Globe - Lost Cities
Origene - Sanctuary
Oceanlab - Satellite
Above and Beyond - No one on earth
Motorcycle - As the rush comes
Motorcycle - Before we fade away..
AVB - Yet another day
Thats what I love about edm, most of these songs have its ups and downs, I think the lowest one has to be "Ur" by tiesto but the rest really say alot.
Oakie - Southern Sun (Tiesto remix) has been known to bring a tear to my eye.
Robbie Williams - Eternity *tear* so beautiful...I LOVE that song *tear*
