Remix Contest [updated]

This track is made by the A&R Manager of Xing Records. Icone has already made an awsome remix of it, and now the label wants to search for more talented remixers!

<<< Xing Records organizes a remix contest of the song 'Spicey meatball' from Project X. The best 3 remixes will be released on cd single. >>>

Download the remixpack on www.xingrecords.nl and give it a try Or - if you only want the original track, get it here:

EDIT:
I see people are complaining on this track. Well, check out a sample of the Icone-remix on this page:

I wouldn't say one hell of a track...but I'll give it a try.

Thanks for letting us know man, will give it a whirl.

I've already started on it, but- could we have a sample of the original?
Are we free to do whatever we want with this?
Do we get a share of the profits from the cd if the song is featured on the cd?

Define "CD Single"

I.E. what will the level of release be? I know nothing about Xing

Posted by alanzo on May-07-2005 03:14:

HAHA.. this track blows.. not dealing with any label that would sign this

Posted by mef on May-07-2005 03:14:

hmmmm i dont think so

EDIT: ie i agree with alan lol

Posted by alanzo on May-07-2005 04:24:

I've been looking into the label some more.. there are some pretty good tracks/artists signed to it. So why the hell do they want this hunk of shit remixed?

Because the original wasn't good enough to go on a CD by itself?

Posted by mef on May-07-2005 04:35:

Original just sounds like they have caned the vanguard presets to me

No offense to the producer of the original, but this track really sucks.

I don't know, in order to make a remix I gotta be inspired by the original, there is nothing that could inspire me here, I've heard better tracks made by unsigned people than this.

the Icone remix is awesome!
Wim you really managed to get all the good stuff out of this, hmm, track.

Posted by Icone on May-07-2005 12:29:

As far as contacts have gone with me and Xing, I can assure you that their intentions are very honest and will be forthcoming if they get some quality remixes sent in.

I found it a hard job remixing this one, simply because it isn't my style. It sounded like a 'funny' track to me at first. But as said before, it more depends on artist's creativity and HOW you approach this track. Trust me, if you're willing to work with labels and get your stuff signed, you WILL get tough remix jobs as well...

Alas, this remix I did will not be labeled as an 'Icone Remix', but as 'Lightworks Remix'; due to being signed with that artist to the label.

Ok... but my question still remains un-answered...

Why did they sign this god-aweful track?

Nice remix Wim. Your remix of J&C's "The Way" is pretty decent too.

Posted by Icone on May-07-2005 15:12:

Well, the A&R manager of the label made this track with very limited resources. He also isn't 100% into producing trance himself though. I'm not sure whether he is going to keep this original track for the single either, or just remixes.

That's the advantage of having your own label - you decide what comes out. Sometimes the public won't agree with your own taste, at other times they will...

Wow Alanzo, you got some tracks signed and your a god suddenly?

Just leave it be.

The label offers producers to end up on a cd, where is the harm in that?

You may refer to me as just "G", if you like.

I never said I was god. But there are a lot of crappy labels out there, and if a label would sign this track.. then most likely it would sign other crappy ones like it.

But this is an exception in that the track isn't actually signed to the label, it was created by one of the owners of the label.. probably as somewhat of a challenege to remixers.

But the fact that the track is so crappy is a little odd. Normally a label wants their best track remixed so they sell lots of copies.

The original version of this track really makes you lift an eyebrow... that's for sure...

Posted by Icone on May-07-2005 17:34:

Hey guys,

I wouldn't feel any awkward because of the quality of the original. Xing really has honest intentions about this. I can perfectly understand it might bring up some questions to some that are unfamiliar with the label.
