Need Tunes For Presentation

Part of this project I'm doing includes a PowerPoint presentation that I'm presenting to my class about electronic music and DJ culture. I'm almost done with the presentation itself, but I want to add sound to it. Basically, for each few slides of each genre (trance, house, techno, breaks, etc.) I want to play a clip of a tune that can make them (my classmates) tell apart the genres. So, what tunes do you guys know of from the various subgenres of electronic music that you think would be appropriate for this presentation? I can't have foul language, plus anything too complex/noisy will probably just annoy or confuse them. So far, for trance I have Kamaya Painters - Endless Wave (Albion Remix), so I need tunes for house, techno, progressive, breaks, hip hop, drum n' bass, and big beat/electronic. Thanks in advance.

Online record stores duh. But I need probably more well-known tunes. Basically stuff that, if there was a student (and that's a BIG if) were interested in finding more on a specific style, I can refer that artist name to him/her to make their search easier. I hope you guys understand what I mean.

Ishkur's Guide

Um, I thought his guide was inaccurate?

AlphaStarred: It'd take waaay too much space crediting every individual person. How about this, what if I say credits go to..."AlphaStarred" and the rest of the TA community :P

I don't know if you noticed but by me typing "" it means I'm being sarcastic :P

I hear this a lot, but no one has yet been able to prove it.

Not intending to threadjack, just....want to point that out, is all.

If you're looking for the quintessential "trance"-sounding track, don't use Kamaya Painters. That's a horrible example. I recommend Age of Love.

there should be an ishkur appreciation thread.... for guiding people

u got some major fans out there.....

Well maybe it was the older version of your guide that I was thinking of from a few years ago.

That's nice, because today's progressive house isn't very melodic at all.

progressive house stay a bit melodic, but prog electro is no more melodic, except some tunes.

Posted by chesco on May-07-2005 15:08:

I'd go with jeff mills - the bells for techno. It's the stereotypical techno tune.

It's definitely not as melodic as trance, but it makes up for that with more focus on basslines the sounds around it to make a good vibe.
