To all FLTA DJs...

I'm looking to get a good pair of headphones? Any suggestions with a reason why that's the right choice? Thanks in advance...

finding the right headphone can be very difficult at times.

I personally have used sony's mdr-v6 and mdr-v700, as well sennheiser hd-280. I preffer using v6 more for studio as their high freqs are fine and clear, while the bass bass is not that good for mixing in club environment with loud monitors.

On the other hand, the mdr-v700 have quality sound, esp. for low and high freqs which I preffer myself.

Lastly, Senn's hd-280 have very good noise reduction/cancel. from outside, however the sound freqs can easily distort at decent volume. definitely a no go for me.

I would suggest MDR-v700. Perhaps you can also look into the pioneer hdj-1000 which some djs preffer as well.

i've had a pair of the HDJ-1000, Stanton DJ Pro-3000, and Sony MDR-V700 and prefer the Pioneers or the Stantons in the club environment with the loud monitors they have great sound and the lows i feel are more prominent than in the Sony's. The Sony's i primarily use for production work while on my laptop.

If theres one thing i must emphasize is treat your headphones like a newborn baby be careful when you place them anywhere make sure you are never tangled or that the cable isn't wound up on itself. I've cracked the knuckle on my Pioneers and my Stantons in situations of split second carelessness and disregard. As for now i have the Sony's for EVERYTHING until i go and get another pair of the Pioneers for club gigs.

Pioneer HDJ-1000 (club use or studio use)
Stanton DJ Pro-3000 (club use... not great for studio work)
Sony MDR V700 (studio use... club use if you have to)

buy the 700's and you are wasting 100 dollars

they will break, esp if you are playing alot of gigs...trust me on this, i took VERY good care of mine and they lasted 3 years...

get sennheiser, they are the best in the industry, PERIOD---they are so precise you can use them for production as well, you'll get your levels perfect in them...

trust me, fuck the pioneer and the sony's

Technics RPDH-1200 or Sony MDR-7506. Others will break on you, even the famed HD-25's. Avoid Sony MDRV-700 at all costs. They will break first.
