Arrow DJ Rain - Arrival

Wsup guys, it's finally here! The follow-up disc to my 'Departure' mix, appropriately named: 'Arrival'. This mix is somewhat different than the last mix with less emphasis on trance and more focus on house, breaks and other genres that I'm addicted to. I actually played this exact mix at a birthday party a month ago to test how it'll fair on the dance floor and I was pleasantly surprised with the warm reception I got. I've provided some notes as you listen to better explain my reason for this tracklisting, which contains some newer stuff as well as old skool material. Enjoy!

======DJ Rain - Arrival: http://69.93.36.150/~superge/

01. Frankie Knuckles - The Whistle Song
God of house music IMO, this track is definitely a good starter for the night with its lush melody and soothing flute solos that's improvised pattern after pattern creating a live performance feel rather than an electronic sample looping. This track'll make you feel good all over.

02. Amit Shoham - The Well (Original Mix)
I never heard of Amit's other works but his first impression is an everlasting one. This track seems to pick up where Frankie's left off with a harder yet deeper groove. This track bings the listener into a more dreamy state with it's hypnotic bassline and jazzy groove. A diamond in the rough.

03. Horchata - You Don't See Me (The Funk Mix)
As the mix title states, this is a funky fun track. Groovy breaks with strong percussions setting the foundational beat for the housey vocal, guitar, sax and bassline. A fun track.

04. Acoustic Nerve - Computer Love (Electromix)
This is what you computer would sing if it could. A simple yet entertaining synth fest that'll put a smile on your face.

05. Kriece - Heron Castle (Hernan Cattaneo Mix)
Kriece is no stranger in my crate and this fantastic mix by Hernan Cattaneo shifts the mix into high gear. This track packs a dirty and nasty bassline that'll make any dance music fan bob their heads followed by a swirling high pitched synth that's a precursor for crazier synth works in later tracks. What grabbed my attention to this mix is the haunting melody that comes later which provides a unique twist into a crowded genre.

06. The Chemical Brothers - Get Yourself High
This is by far the most unique track in this mix due to the awesome lyricism provided by the one and only Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest. Industrialize beats and an addictive melody ties this nice little package together as only the Chemical Brothers can.

07. The Operators - Furball
When I dropped this track that night, it burned the dancefloor up like there was no tomorrow. Warning, may cause excessive dancing. Impressive programming on all fronts as the driving bassline and synth set the track up for the impending mayhem. I won't spoil the surprise but this track must be enjoyed LOUD!

08. Starkid - Crayons (Habersham and Numinous Remix)
This track is dedicated to wonderfully talented Adam Spears (Starkid) who tragically passed away in 2004. His promising yet short career left me wondering what fantastic material could he have conjured up if he was still alive. This rework by awesome duo of Habersham & Numinous is not to be missed as these two partners in crime have demonstrated their talents in past collaborations. This was also my favorite anthem of 2004.

09. Tonepushers - Daydream (Bill Hamel Remix)
Daydream is a fitting title for this mellow dance-a-thon. Everytime I listen to this track it reminds me of the VH1 show, "I Love the 80s".

10. Repair - Forgive & Forget (Richard Davis Remix)
This is another artist which I know very little about but whoever Repair is, he/she/they did a wonderful job in molding a delicious vocal bomb that makes you just want to get up and dance. A killer bassline and refreshing melody rocks on with solid vocals to round up this polished track.

11. Morgan Page - Falling (Main Mix)
One of my favorite US house artists, Morgan Page teams up with vocalist Astrid Suryanto for a seductive floor burner. This is definitely a chick magnet track as the babes dig the lush melody and sexy vocals. One of my favorites from 2004.

12. Luke Fair - 34K (Original Mix)
A veteran of the scene, Luke provides a warm and fuzzy house track that completes this mix.

Hi!

Finally it's available! I was begining to wonder. Anyways, it's here! And I can't wait to hear it! Downloading now. Feedback might take some time to come, as I usualy need a while to get into a mix. But according to the time you spent making this mix, I'm pretty sure it will be at least as good as the previous one.

Best regards, Corentin.

Wow.

Hey! You finally finished! Anyhow this is probably my 10th round of listening and I must say this is even more impressive than your "Departure" mix. Believe it or not, you posted this mix at a perfect time because me and my friends were chillin at a house party without any good music. So sad! I went on TA to find something and I noticed your post at the top of the first page. THANK GOODNESS FOR YOUR TIME! And yes I have officially approved this mix for the dance floor =). I just wanted to add that I noticed in Departure you went from 4x4 to breaks that was a one way street but in Arrival you went back and forth between the styles effortlessly that makes the mix feel much deeper and robust. Anyhow keep on pumping out these awesome mixes!

I apologize for not listening to the mix, but I just wanted to let you know that K-OS is the vocalist on Get Yourself High, not Q-Tip. Q-Tip is on Galvanize. Both are hot tracks though.

I'm studying for finals at the moment and this mix is perfect. I'm at 13 minutes and the transitions are perfect. I see what everyone has been talking about with your past mixes...

impressive

I LOVE THIS MIX! It's been a while since I've seen such a refreshing tracklist and your mixing transitions are unbelievably clean and crisp. The beauty of your mixing style is even more pronounced when heard through good headphones as I can hear how you utilize every beats, melody and effects of the songs when transitioning.

Impressive is an understatement for this mix. When's your next release Mr. Rain?

Edit: BTW, are you a pure house and breaks DJ or do you do trance as well? I'm a trance head at heart so I was wondering if you plan on doing anything like uplifting trance?
