Monkey Dancer 2 What do you listen to besides Trance?

I was just wondering what you guys listen to besides trance music, if anything! I used to listen to a lot of punk music, and lately I've been going on a punk binge. I've been listening to a lot of pop punk, and emo punk lately. Not so much the stuff they play on the radio however. I don't like that crap. I hate people like Sum 41 and Avril Lavigne...NOT punk! I've been listening to a lot of Dynamite Boy (my FAVE punk band...who is breaking up ), Bad Religion, Rancid, and Strung Out.
What are YOU listening to?

Besides TRANCE, I also love HARDTRANCE, and HardSTYLE, and the shit Yoji Biomehanika plays.

Non-EDM would be
Rock, metal, heavy metal, classical, J-pop. 80's, easy listening.

punk's dead.

sum 41 and them freaks that sing "my daddy touched me when i was a kid" and shit like that got nothing to do with punk, what the fuck is up with all the makeup????????

last 2 years it was all about breaks, now im getting back in touch with house, i heard great funk set the other night so that's what's downloading right now. from time to time i'll play some old school, none of that new "bling, bitches, cash" bullshit. snoop dog, de la soul, biggie, wu tang-wu tang-wu tang, but not to often.

im really diggin' angel alanis, adam freeland.....

and so on

breaks, alternative, swing, jazz, pop rock, fused rock( stuff like garbage), etc etc

Well other than Trance, I've been listening to some ambient sets and some punk stuff like old NOFX, The Vandals, and Rise Against, and also the occational Irish tune (as usual). That's about it for now.
Yeah I have to agree that that Sum 41 shit eats ass too!!

102.1 the Edge always seems to be my car station.

Posted by Jem_hadar on May-10-2005 01:30:

I've been getting into progressive of late...

I also enjoy listening to house and certain breaks...

LOVE hardstyle: hard dance, hard trance, hard house (ANNE SAVAGE anyone!!!).

And of course... BLINK 182... fuckn LOVE THEM to death. Favourite band of all time to me!

Sine January, I've been obsessed with an Australian female singer, Delta Goodrem. She has the MOST BEAUTIFUL voice I have EVER heard. Words can't describe how pretty and soft her voice is to me.

I encourage you all to check her out. She has one albulm released over here, INNOCENT EYES, and her second can be purchased online I know from Amazon.ca.

Non-EDM, I listen to some Queens of The Stone Age, The Tragically Hip (best band of all time), CKY, Foo Fighters, Gob, Goldfinger, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Sublime. Tonnes of other stuff too.

Anything from rock, alternative, house and even rap and hip hop...
I just love music!

Beside Trance & House,

love tuning in to 91.1 while waiting...just soothes me and keeps me calm rather than blow up in a fit of rage when the person shows up late

Posted by MarkT on May-10-2005 02:25:

progressive house, a bit of breaks, hip hop and trip hop. Sander, Zabiela, Freeland, DJ Icey

non-DJs...K-OS (CD of 2004), Bjork, Portishead, Lauryn Hill, Depeche Mode, Smiths/Morrisey, New Order, Sarah McLachlan, even a bit of Madonna

I can't listen to mainstream radio for more than 10 minutes or I freak out...95% of pop music has become generic crap. If I *had* to pick a couple of "pop" artists who I don't mind...The Killers and Avril Lavigne.

besides trance being my favourite, i love good house, drum n'base, tekno and goa n all that shit but i cant deal with the jungle too well. i also really appreciate good classical music too!

Punk died with The Sex Pistols.
Sum 41 and all these so called punk bands nowdays aren't really punk.
I do think Blink 182 are all right though. But definitely not punk!
I'll listen to anything really, as long as I htink it sounds good.

Posted by Stingray on May-10-2005 02:49:

Classic & Psych rock, 80's, Metal, Jungle/D&B

You guys are too mean to Sum41 and aren't giving them enough credit.

They do put on an excellant show.

They do write their own music that is catchy and pretty good.

They spread positive political messages.

The thing with Sum41 is that it's unadultered fun. People like to hate on whatever becomes cool to listen to, and because SUM41 became so popular, they all of a sudden get all this hate from people that are "so underground, and non conformist" that they refuse to conform. Fack that. SUM41 4ever. I'm not a HUGE fan but I have seen them live when they decided to touch base with their canadian fan base and do small university shows on frosh weeks. That's admirable in itself. Of the pop-punk bands out there, they definately rank up there with the best.
