Considering the mods and admin always say "Tranceaddict does not support filesharing" I'd say that it's quite obvious that the tracks are legal.

But they're not. Samples are not 9 minutes long and 12MB like the first track in the list in the singles section.

i dont think u can play them "out" like at gigs

Why wouldn't someone. If the track is available for download that's giving consent, unless you aren't the one that made the track available.

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-11-2005 19:50:

i dunno, id just imagine that they are not legal to play out, even though they are legal to download for personal use. I could be wrong of course

Posted by [Chriz] on May-11-2005 19:53:

i would think that since its legal and its found on the TA server...it is ok to play them 'out' at gigs?

you would imagine that since you own the track that you could legally record it on a mix as well...

Yes, as long as it's for promotional use only. If you are selling them, you'd better pony up some royalties.

Posted by twisted on May-11-2005 20:37:

notice though...it gives thanks to different release groups, mentioned under the track name and download link. like this:

"Kid Vicious - Proceed (Original Mix) [Download]

A bangin' trancer that is steady throughout and club/dance floor worthy... Lots of energy in this one, definitely one to pick up the crowd and get people moving. Minimal fluff here.

[Size: 12.1MB Time: 8:40 Src: Vinyl Genre: Trance Thanks To: TGX]"

release groups are illegal. i doubt alot of those producers would just give the site the tracks, or awknowledge that its ok to put up mp3s from release groups right on the site.

just something i thought about after reading this thread, not pointing the finger at anyone.

dont ban me

A lot of DJs visit this site and with so many members on here I doubt that what they're doing is illegal. They've been up for about 5 years, I've been here for 4 and never heard of any problems arising in the past.

well nothing ever caught my attention except the release group info. that would be the only thing that could ever raise any thoughts about it all. i didnt doubt the producer giving consent for the tracks till i saw the release groups being named. obviously thanking them would mean that either someone from TA got the tracks from them, or someone at TA was part of them. im sure that isnt the theme now, like you said its been a looooong time since those were put up, alots changed. if you search a while back, there are threads that openly talk about file sharing and the "hub".

Well they have to get the songs from somewhere unless they rip em' themselves

...and thats where the release group would come in...

The singles aren't there for you to 'download and play' at your gig - if it's good enough to play - buy the vinyl - its that simple.

Thats why i was asking the question!! I already own GTR - Mistral on vinyl but after heavy use it cracks alot!! Trying to find a new copy of this track on vinyl is pretty hard!!

Thanks for answering it!!

thats seems to be everyones argument nowadays. download it, like it, buy it.
but that still doesnt make it legal...
and even with that philosphy in mind, TA has been arguably hard when filesharing is mentioned.

i dont know...it just seems a bit contradictory...

i better stop...i dont really know what im getting myself into

Posted by Desty Nova on May-11-2005 23:34:

its only illegal if you get caught

Posted by *InVeRs3* on May-12-2005 02:09:

Whoa I've been looking for Mistral and Vicious' track. Thank you.

i know thats way out of context...but your statment is just goofy as shit. also, i dont know if your post was an answer to mine, but if it was, that wasnt even what i was really getting at. its the idea that TA and the beliefs and rules about file sharing, completly contradict what Swamper had posted before...among other things. im not trying to start a big war (no that there would be much of one, id probably get suspended/banned), but my point has been overlooked completely...and i dont think im that wrong with this "discovery"

Posted by [Chriz] on May-12-2005 04:07:

okie since swamper has spoken....the matter should be all cleared up now...
