SETA FESTIVAL calling all DJs, promoters, TA evangelists

DJs, promoters, TA evangelists:

The SETA DJ thread has given birth to a massive concept whose time has come.

THE SETA FESTIVAL

A gathering of local talent, both DJs and Producers to do what they do best and party their asses off while doing it. We are amongst the most hard core music fans out there. Everyone else is just following the crowd. That crowd is us. So why not do it OUR WAY. All we need is a little team work, some planning, and good karma. Some of us are already talking about it, but we need your help. PM me if you:

Have knowledge on how to put together events
Are a DJ or Producer
Just want to help out

Peace

I'm glad you brought this up. I was saving this for the official meeting. And call me crazy, but I want to do this in Miami, Orlando AND Atlanta. It wouldn't be a SETA FESTIVAL otherwise. So yes, we'll need people on the ground in both Orlando and Atlanta. We'll be taking this party on the road!

Posted by djhydra on May-12-2005 20:28:

sounds like fun

Posted by DJ_Release on May-12-2005 20:30:

I've promoted a few parties in the past. Raves actually. It isn't too hard but lots of work and will definitely need cash.

Some points to think about:
Location: Obviously location is most important. Central Florida would be the best for everyone. Or maybe even higher.

Venue: Renting out a warehouse is cheap but will need additional sound. Or a club where we get all admission fees and a percentage of the liquor sales.

Headliner: Maybe have some bigger names like Noel Sanger, Bill Hamel, Markus Schulz spin to grab more people than just TAs.

Hey Scott thanks for the support, I actually talked to El.maestro about bringing MArkus since he is a actual TA. Maybe Gabriel & Dresden could work too. Since it's a TA event we want the headliners to be TA's as well

As soon as we get a good organization committee going we will look into location and money... and of course we all have to understand we need some source of cash to do a big event like this

sounds better and better !! hells fuckingggg yeah

I just mentioned this to djhydra,

In Miami, I think we can expect a turnout of at least 500 with decent promotion. @ 25 per head, that's about $12,000. Anyone please speak up if you disagree

I don't know the Orlando and Atlanta markets; I'll need your insight as to what is possible there. I'd like to see if sponsorship is possible.

Permits, etc. is another story. But I think with everyone's help we'll have all bases covered.

hey i was bouncer for the ta dinner...

2 people belived me so i can pull it off

as for 12k.. bro for that much money u can get sander in ur party... 12k is alot of money and i doubt this party will be that big

Posted by DJ_Release on May-12-2005 21:12:

well i don't think it's a matter of how much money will we make, instead it's a matter of how much money will we need at first so then we can figure out what kind of party are we going to have.

Plus remember it's not for the money, but for the music and for the love of TA (of course making money as part of the festival will be good too)

true... i am new to the TA thing, but it seems there is a strong bond amongst the people who post here. and the show should def feature ONLY TA's. that was the original purpose of the event(an opportunity to showcase the TA talent...perhaps bring a few people in on the sound as well)

If it is not during the July then I am down, yo.

Uhm no one will be paying 25 unless there is a major headliner. Even headliner parties sometimes aren't 25. Let's be realistic.

Furthermore, promoting 2 months ahead of a scheduled date seems like the best way. If this event does happen it will be mid-fall.

Good point, thanks for pulling me back into reality. So maybe $10? It all depends on what our cost will be. That's the first thing we need to get a handle on. All good topics to be discussed.

And to clarify the money profit issue; this project is not about making loads of money. Its about putting on some kick ass parties and showcasing local talent. Cash will be accounted for and put in corporate accounts. Im thinking we can set up a non-profit. Any extra money, if any will be used to do the following year bigger and better.
