what do u think about the european constitution?

hi
i dunno if u guys already talked about this...well in france there gonna be held a referendum on the 29th may 2005 about the european constitution
what's your opinions about it?are u in favor of it or against?
i decided to vote yes finally even if i ain't really convinced about it
so any of your comments and opinions about it is welcome !

I'll be voting against it when it comes up here. It's a step in the direction of a united states of Europe as far as I can see.

Well, I'm pretty much in favor, but unfortunately I don't live in a country that's a member of the EU so I can just lobby from the outside...

that guy obviously has some strong opinions about it.

as a pro-nationalism, anti-NWO American i say, good luck and God bless

leave it to the French to be on the fence about this now, of all times. let them eat cake...and have it too

Great. I really hope the French gives this one a "Oui". IMO the world has grown into a state where you need to be big to have any kind of influence, and a tighter EU would be a step in the right direction. I don't really fear a "United States of Europe" which, to me, seems to be a term that EU-sceptics use in order to make the European project appear to be a road towards becoming something like the US. Just because the EU would share the basic structure of states united into a supreme state, that doesn't mean that we will automatically take over all the things we don't like about the US. These are not bound to the US structure, but rather to the US culture and history, I think.

Since you don't even know the difference between the Euro and the EU, I suggest that you stfu before you get wound up in an argument you are incapable of winning.

+1.

And its not like the constitution make any radical changes anyway. It makes it a lot clearer what the EU can decide about, and what it cannot. It also takes away VETOs in some areas, which really is a must if you want to have a working EU with 25 memberstates (and their new voting system is a very smart one imo (Qualified Majority Voting), both for the big countries and small countries). It also makes it easier to have a Common Foregin Policy (VETO is still in use here tho), so this will definetly make the EU a much stronger player in the world. It also give the European Parliament a lot more powers, which is a big step for direct democracy in the EU.

Here is a good link with some info about the constitution:

Or you could download it here (325 pages tho im considering reading tho ):

The lovely irony of that statement.......... [think russia's role and who the cold war was with]

[I'm going to use asshole speak because it's the only thing he'll understand]

And remeber why you pussys (in the end) came into the war? You were provoked, the UK steped in itself even though we at the time wern't directly affected (we could of pulled a "Switzerland" or a "Portugal" or a "Spain" or a "Sweden" or worse an Italy).

Maybe if you had come in eariler the cold war wouldn't have happened.
[/ arsehole speak]

Ever heard of the battle of Britain? And even tho I dont doubt America entering the war was important (in that it speeded up Britain and Russia's victory) but its not like you entered it to "save our arses" you entered int o save your own arse! And dont give me any shite about the Marshall Plan either cos thats no different than buying shares in a company.

As for the Cold War, the USSR collapsed due to internal economic problems, nothing to do with the US...

(Also, your wrong to say that no-one dies during the Cold War cos thousands died)

Posted by St_Andrew on May-14-2005 18:31:

USSR saved europe more than any other country, much more so than the americans or the british. They should get more credit for that imo!
