Posted by Tordan on May-13-2005 09:15:

There was a lot of booty shaking going on. And it was about 50% female booty compared to the normal 10%.

LOL @ dirty sanchez

Roger Sanchez is the man... flawless set, mindblowing track selection. All I have to say is WOW!

Big up to all the TAs... dEsidEL, RabbitJoker, dr. goodvibe, ryanm, endlesswave, E2EK1EL, fn_xtc, samhouse, tully, jayx1, trancegeek & anyone else I might have missed.

All i got to say is WOW!! The atmosphere i thought was brilliant. The place wasn't so crowded, so that allowed everyone to dance their asses off. Free drinks - can't go wrong. And the people were great too, not like some of the retards that bump at you every second for bigger events.
I got to the club at exactly 12 with my friend, wasn't too sure exactly when sanchez was coming on. Got in through one of the promoters so a free event for me as well as free drinks - just classic!! LOL!! Got to see the end of vinyl competition, but mostly during that time i was drinking at the bar and getting warmed up, like doing some stretchin' Then me and my friend actually left the club because she wanted red bull so much and they weren't seving anything but vodka at the bar, which is kinda stupid but since it was a smirnoff event i guess they just wanted you to buy their product. Anyway, quickly checked out at the nearest gas station, picked up some red bull and came back to Guv just in time for Roger to hit the stage. I thought we were late but awsome timing!! And boy did Roger make us move our asses! He's a crazy man with a beatiful beat. He made us go onto the stage in the middle to dance and dance and dance. I remember we got filmed for a bit while we were dancing, i hope they will not show it on the news so my g/f can see it, LOL Obviously stayed till the very end but 4:20 was kinda early, should of played till 5 at least. I'm not complaining though for such an event, it rocked my world!! I feel bad that i didn't met any TA's though, really wanted to b/c it's a smaller event, easier to talk and chill with. But i'm sure a lot of you might remember me from this event. I was the one (in white shirt) dancing on the middle stage with my friend (she had a hat on). We were both dancing our asses off. I also have a question, if someone could remember what was the name of the track that Roger dropped at exactly 3:40am, thanks in advance ppl. Anyway, hope to meet some of you for may 2-4, still deciding btw Danny T and DD. Really want to see Danny T but eveyone i know are going to DD so we'll see. Peace.

4:20am?

Damnit, no wonder they wouldn't let us in at 4. Hearing Sanchez would've been a great way to kick off the 1st 4 hours of me being 22.

We shoulda gone to Boa.

Awesome awesome nite. i vow never to miss roger sanchez when hes in toronto...second time i've scene him now and fuck man, that is HOUUUUSE fuckin music!!!!! if only we could get him as a resident.

we got their rediculously early, at like 10:15 or so. got in for free which was sweet, got free drinks, the whole nite cost us $10 parking. definately an awesome nite that was nice on my bank.

cajjmere ray definately deserved the 1st place. his sets were the most inspiring from the others. the one guy from vancouver dropped beatie boys - fight for your right (junkie xl remix) with like 45seconds left in his slot, i was just like wtf? thats what you should be starting with to wake the crowd up, don't drop the bomb when its going to be cut.

can anyone plz tell me the first song cajmere ray played in the 3rd round??? that song was fuckin sick, i want it so bad.

it was also cool how one of those guys played roger sanchez - another chance to. definately got me moving.

mark oliver, omg man, you never cease to amaze me. i never thought in a million years i'd hear that music coming from his tables. definately a nice warm up for roger. he played that 50 cent - tips song (i don't know what the title is)...and i actually enjoyed it, had a funky bassline to it.

roger did awesome...his opening song (i know it, but forget the name, its a new remix of an old song) definately set things off on the right foot, and it didnt' let up at all, sweet tune after sweet tune. of course he had to add orgasim sounds to josez nunez - bilingual oh roger you dirty boy lol....

anyways great nite, definately a treat whenever roger is in town.

If someone can ID this I would be internally greatful. Around 3:30 sanchez dropped this track that's a remix of two older ones: Alcatraz - Give me luv & Shakedown - At night. Definitely made my night.

Awesome night. Tons of fun.
There was one track in particular that made me run from the coatcheck BACK into Guv to go nuts for a bit more before I left, it was about 2:05/2:10 or so when he dropped it. Had vocals and tons of melody, almost like a trancey house tune. Was SO GOOD.

doesn't look like many went by7 the looks of the "reviwe" but glad to see you had fun!

which means they probably lost money on the night

Nobody lost money. It was a marketing exercise for Smirnoff.

Mark Oliver played a great warm-up and hung around after to mingle and mangle. Thanks for the track ID MarkO (BTW: I tried to buy/download the single off Yoshitoshi's webshop - then the webshop went nuts and it's been offline ever since. I think I broke the Yoshitoshi!)

I had not seen Roger Sanchez live before - so I wasn't certain about what to expect (I was concerned there would be too much disco-house or diva-house like). Roger impressed the pants off me - good, banging NYC style house (very little diva, very little disco). Roger passed the test - I will see him again.

If thats the kind of capacity you want at a club of that calibre with djs of that calibre you should be paying $40-50 to get in.

These places arent cheap to operate and the talent doesnt come cheaply either.

I believe the track you are refering to may be DJ DLG - On The Run.
"It is the night, my bodies weak, I'm on the run, no time to sleep.."
My friends from Eyezcream records were up in Toronto to pick Mr. Sanchez up at the airport and go with him to Guv and I figured he would've dropped that track which is a new release on there label.. going to be MASSIVE. Hopefully, that's the track you were talking about.
