Sneaker Pimp www.TRACKLISTS.ca

Well I will keep this simple and introduce you all to what I am sure you will all find very useful, www.tracklists.ca . The site was created to get rid of all that wasted time trying to find the tracklist for a set you're listening to because you want to know the title of a specific track.

There are still a few little things that need to be fixed or worked on, but for the most part things run almost perfect. The site has been in testing for about 2 months and has a massive database that we believe is the most extensive of any other tracklist site on the net.

You will notice that we have a few streams on the site, and the initial idea that got the site started was to be able to simply click on the stream and the site will pull up the tracklist for the set that is playing. Well it does just that so long as the tracklist exists. If it does not exist in the system it will tell you and you will be able to upload the list if you have it. We hope to be able to work closer with these stations and other stations along with their residents and guests to be able to have those most current tracklists in our system as the sets are being aired and potentially have live sets lists updated live by the DJs or the stations host.

A few of the features of the site are as follows:

100% Canadian
Set name/Track name/Artist Search
3000+ tracklists
Upload lists
Edit lists
Click-On-Stream tracklist retrieval
Become a member

quite an undertaking you're proposing on this site....hope it works out, and it's a great idea.

Posted by Swamper on May-13-2005 20:26:

Good idea.

However, you should also have an entry in each tracklist for its corresponding source - since - I'm sure many of those lists were pulled from forums where many ppl contributed towards getting certain tunes identified.

Question

Fantastic idea.

How much?

Yes, great idea for sure.

And I agree with Swamper; give credit where credit is due.
You can't expect us to believe you guys know ALL tracklistings
(We wouldn't anyways so why hide that fact?)

Best of luck!

Sneaker Pimp re:CREDIT

Sorry for not having put credit where credit was due sooner, but if you all notice we have added a link at teh bottom right of all pages on the website to the sources of the tracklists, and we thank those sources emensly. also the link to the sources has links to the sources sites. i appologize for not having put the credits page before, and i agree these people do deserve credit.

we sincerly appreciate any and all comments and criticism so keep it comming if you have any, and any suggestions.

Wow Dave, the site looks great, it will definitly be useful, having all tracklists in one place. Nice job !! I have used it several times already today.

Glad to see such good response from everyone. I worked alongside moneyman, this was his brainchild, I made it happen. He also compiled a bunch of tracklists from all the different sources we used.

I just want to clarify one thing. The website does exactly what he said it does, and we have much in the works for it. The next big thing to be added as far as functionality goes is the ability for our members to edit their own tracklists they upload, as well as submit changes to other tracklists. Once the changes are approved, they go live. Neat little feature, allowing the tracklists to evolve as time goes by. We also have many other neat features, as moneyman mentioned, we want to be able to work alongside DJs that are broadcasting live, so we can get their up to the minute tracklist online, adding a neat edge to the main page and the stream monitors.

Feel free to give us any feedback, this site is for each and everyone of you!

Sincerely,
Andre LeFort

Sneaker Pimp re: upload

Just like to put out another thanks to everyone for the feedback so far and those who have already started to upload lists.

Please dont hesitate to upload anything, by doing so you will help the site grow, and keep it up to date. anything you think is missing just upload. aside from that just wanted to say thanks and if you have any other comments or suggestions please let us know so we can make changes and alterations to the site.

A suggestion: It would be nice to be able to browse through all lists.

Consider it done, feature added to our TODO list. How would you like to see them ordered? As it stands, it is all file based, but we are in the middle of converting it all to a database. Once that is complete, we will be able to list all the tracklists, and you will be able to sort by artist, venue or date. Does that sound proper?

Sincerely,
Andre LeFort
