Help with my percussion
Hi guys, listen - Im really bad at arranging my own percussion.
Basically I have no idea how to make excellent loops and how to fill them up like you guys do - so basically I could do with some tuition or someone pointing me in the right direction.
What Im after (if one of you kind people have the time) is this:-
Would it be possible for someone to send me an arranged midi part for Cubase Sx? Im using Battery, so if one of you uses it I was thinking you could send me the midi to go with it, and tell me what battery kit you use (or if its one you made yourself send me that as well!!)
Then I can see how it is all arranged and how you make the sounds in each cell, and it will help me learn how to do my own.
I wouldnt normally ask, I wish I knew someone who lived close so I could pop round and see for myself, but I dont, and well, thats the marvel of modern technology - I can learn from someone in the far corners of the world!!
Hope you can help guys,
much appreciated.

Just thought I'd post this link before you get a hundred replies telling you to use the search button.

Check that out. Mr. Mystery did a great job with this. It has audio samples and even pictures to go with it. It's not geared toward using battery, but it should be pretty simple to apply the same concepts to battery or any other drum sampler.
Firstly thanks for pointing me in the right direction, that has really helped A LOT!
but now i have another problem - samples!
When im copying the tutorial I just dont have the right samples to recreate Mr Mystery's loops.
Ive tried 'searching' but its an absolute minefield!
Could you tell me where I can go to get all my Hi Hat samples?
Or even better - if any of you have a Hi Hat kit for Battery or Dr008 that would be wicked.
Even so, I dont mind making my own but like I said, just dont know where to go for all my Hi Hat needs.
Thanks guys,
MP
Is that Dorumalaia site still going. There were some awsome samples for free from there.
www.dorumalaia.com check out the superdrums 8000 package. The demo only gives some of the package but you might want to consider buying the whole thing if you like the samples enough.
Just had a look at that site cheggy, and it has totally lost me!!
Cant understand it!!
Thanks anyway,but
Wanted more of a sample bank of hi hats or if someone can .rar me their hi-hats id be eternally grateful (ok-maybe not eternally but for a long time!!)

107 viewings and only 2 replies??
Gotta be some kind of record or people dont want to help cos they think im lazy.
Well, i am sort of- I REALLY have tried to find some but just cant seem to get professional sounding ones like in Mr Mysteries tutorial!
Please help - I want to learn to do my own percussion.
Thanks,

Man it's just that there is really no simple answer to this. It seems the longer you float around in the producing world, the more samples fall into your hands. If you got a bit of money, just buy some sample CDs on Sound on Sound or something. NI Synthetic Drums is wicked. Or else use that samples thread. Check out www.samplecity.net, there use to be TONS of samples there, not really anymore.... but it's growing. Do a search for Bren-F's trance percussion pack, very solid. There is a kickdrum pack from Alanzo somewhere around here too.
