how do you decide what to listen to and when?

I'm a bit of a strange creature myself. I'll be sitting there then all of a sudden i'll get a particular sound form a tune in my head then i'll immediately want to listen to the track that contains that sound.

This also happens when listening to other tunes.

e.g.

A particular song might contain a certain sound that is similar to a sound in another song.

When this happens i'll stop listening to that tune and go straight to the one that it remided me of.

so anyway, now that i've freaked you guys out...

how do you decide what to listen to and when?

i listen to anything i havent listened to or havent listened to in awhile. I'll whore the hell out of that particular track/album/set and then move on to something else. eventually i'll return to it. its a long endless cycle

Basically what I do too.

Usually though, I just listen to whatever, whenever.

for the most part I let the iPod decide what I listen to

but if I am feeling one tune or another in particular then I will bang the hell out of that tune (This usually happens on friday when I want to let loose)

I go by the look of the cd when I'm in a hurry. I really like it when I pull a cd that I haven't listened to for like a year, it's like buying a new cd.
