Tory Aurora MP Belinda Stronach crosses the floor to the Grits
I nearly feel out of my chair.

| Aurora MP Belinda Stronach has crossed the floor from the Conservatives, and decided to join the Liberal Party, meaning almost certainly that the budget vote will pass, and no summer election will take place. For the latest details, watch CablePulse24 now and for a full report, catch CityPulse at Noon. Sent 10:49am- May 17, 2005 |
Even if there WAS an election the Liberals would have won anyway...for fuk's sakes stop wasting tax payers money with this bullshit and do some fucking work...like RUN THE COUNTRY!
rofl
OMFG.
thats one of the best backstabbing in recent history..
so the budget will passs.
HOLY shit
....that is HUGE news....I thought I was dreaming too when I turned my tv on...a huge coup for Martin....She's SO right that a Conservative/ PQ alliance is VERY bad for Canada right now & I guess she's been listening to Canadians & that we DO NOT want an election right now.
this chick is a fucking bitch anyways... ..shows you what a sham her leadership contest was... the liberals can have her.

She basically wrote her political obituary. Most people i know in aurora held their nose and voted for stronach even though she is an idiot because they were voting for the party. I predict that she will now lose in the next election. First of all shes a backstabber and seems to flow whichever way the wind is blowing (shes perfect for the liberals) Second she has no idea about any policies and most people perceive her as her dad's puppet (a staunch liberal)..
This just helped the conservatives secure a seat in aurora IMO. Its not like shes well liked in Aurora anyways. I happen to be registered in that riding so i will be definately voting accordingly.

fucking Tories.
This is somewhat shocking, however, Belinda isn't exactly what one would consider an idealogically motivated politition. Let's not forget that she had no designs on entering politics until someone told her that should could win the leadership of the conservative party (oops). He decision today is likely motivated by the fact that she is being given a cabinet post whereas it is likely should would not receive one in a Conservative government (as Harper is not very found of her). That being said, she always has been a red tory so this isn't a stretch for her.
btw this is another example of why parliament needs to be reformed. I did not vote for a liberal to be my representitive. I voted for a conservative. This is not democracy.
The fact that she walks into the liberal party with a huge portfolio shows me that the rumours a few weeks ago of the liberals trying to bribe conservatives to switch parties is probably true.
Talk about desperate liberal undemocratic ploys. It's disgusting.
If there was ever a demonstration of just how far the liberals are willing to go to cling to power, this is it. More influence peddling if you ask me. Sell out the house to the lowest bidder in order to stay in power.

IMO - Miss Stronach is the political equivalent of a whore - whomever dangles the carrot has her tail.
PC Party dangles an easily elected seat and (possible) leadership - she gets into politics.
Liberals dangle a cabinet seat - she changes parties.
This proves that politicians think the public is stupid.

As a result of this - I believe there should be a "Party Change" rule in the house.
If on decides to change parties, they must have a bi-election within the riding.
