i am romanian, and i can tell that there is a really BS situation going on here. It is like the death of 3 journalists is MORE FASHIONABLE and MORE IMPORTANT than THE DEATH OF HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN THAT DIE FROM HUNGER BECAUSE OF POOR HEALTHCARE.

It is not normal to have all 20 TV channels having talk shows about iraq prisoners at the same time. There are MUCH MORE LIVES THAT HAVE TO BE SAVED.

Shame on all those that feel sorrow for those journalists, just because they receive so much media attention

Would you have prefered them to have been killed or what?!

I think that it's wrong that so much fuss has been given to this situation.

You dont think its a big fuss that three journalists have escaped with their heads firmly attatched to their necks? And I'm also not sure what your definition of a big fuss is as the story came out today (and already it seems to have been relegated to the back pages of news websites) - doesn't seem like a big fuss is even being made over it...

Yea, its only a big fuss in Romania apparently because they are Romanian journalist, and obviously journalist like most collegues care particularly about one another.

Here's an example: If you told me "a person died in a car accident today", I'd be sad to hear it.
If you told me a "[specific name] trance-addict died today in a car accident", I'd be much more sad.
If you told me a "[specific name] PDD trance-addict died today in a car accident", I'd be very sadden and take it to heart.

They are all news, but the third, because I am a PDD trance-addict and know almost every PDD trance-addict here for a couple years now, would be the biggest and most important news of the three to me.

Just like the second news item, that a specific trance-addict that you are particulalrly found of might be more news to you.

That is why it is a big story in Romania that these journalist were rescued and less so of a news sotry in places like the USA.

If you only uncovered this aspect of human nature today then you are utterly confused, its a very powerful aspect of it, and its not necessicarly a negative one.

While in principle I agree that there's little reason for feeling sorry for journalists and others travelling to Iraq, in spite of the entire board of warning lights having flashed red for years, and then getting killed or kidnapped (except maybe for bemoaning their stupidity), I don't think that you can scold others for feeling that way. Nor can you be mad at those that feel relief and happiness when hostages are freed, as that's an emotion that is triggered by a bad situation becoming slightly less bad. It's not like all the other who suffer in Iraq would suddenly be free of their tormentors if these journalists had been killed.
