To all the Firefox experts

I dont want the 'The operation timed out when attempting to contact...' or the'the document contains no data' pop-up to appear when Firefox can't open a site. Instead I just want the site to appear as the 'Page cannot be displayed' like in IE. Is there any way to change this?

Yes. " If you know how to program " And if you feel like writing code for firefox so it does that. Otherwise no!

Wouldn't you rather it tiled your avatar across the screen instead?? I certainly would...

The equivalent of a 404 i think, i'd rather have a pop up box than that ugly page imo.

and that ugly page destroys whatever url you typed in, so you have to type it all over again!

thank god for opera!

make a new boolean value named this "browser.xul.error_pages.enabled", set it to true
edit:
also great for host files that block ad servers
this way you get an iframe with an error page instead of having moz/ff open pop up errors on every page from ads that can't load

+1 to that. I'm using the hosts file from http://remember.mine.nu and PeerGuardian (http://www.methlabs.org).

Where are bookmarks stored on Firefox?

Posted by plouf02 on May-25-2005 11:53:

Documents_Settings/Username/Apllications_Data/Mozilla/firefox/Profiles/xxx.default/bookmarks.html

yeah but it's just an html file? Not like IE's favourites?

Me too, thought that was a big plus by firefox; pops up, hit enter & you're back on track.
