[p.e.g] - whatever (melodic trance) 192Kbs

Hey y'all, thought i'd stick my latest track up here for some feedback. I guess you'd say it's melodic trance.

p.e.g whatever (192Kbs)

Note the file is name .mpe not .mp3, but it's a 192Kbps mp3 file. My service provider has begun the very rude practice of blindly deleting all .mp3 files off its web server, irrespective of who owns the copyright ... go figure.

Anyway, hope you enjoy the tune and feedback is always welcome!

Hey.

-Fast intro. Might make a short perc solo at the beginning to give the DJs time to beat match without having to listen through the counter-bass .
-Good bassline and counter-bassline. It has good a godo drive.
-Good intro synths. They are effectively repetative to get a godo groove . I like the distorted growls a lot too.
-The break comes in a bit soon for melodic trance but its a good break no less .
-The break-in out of the break is a little weak. Try using some filtering effects or some pushing percussive sounds (like a reversed crash) to get back into the beat.
-Good melody. It is very trancey and definantly melodic :P.
-The square+saw is a good additive to the melody. Nice complimentary to the song .
-Good quick break down to the end of the song.

Overall, I dont have too many negative points for this song. It does sound a bit on the commercial side and it could be a little beefier with the bass maybe but its good as is . Good tune and sorry I cant help you out more, its just right I guess :P.

Cheers,
Zac

Had to download real player to hear this so better be good . I'll let you know what i think when i download the song.

Cool buildup man, bassline is the groove. I like the square synth. The breakdown is great too - the melody reminds me of chiba , only 'happier'. Sound quality is excellent - everything is nice and clear. Good work man. Not as storming as chiba, but still very cool.

Posted by EtherealSL on May-26-2005 05:15:

very well produced... but too generic for my tastes (especially the gating on that saw. it's screaming "mainstream" at me)

Posted by Stu Cox on May-26-2005 17:51:

Good stuff, excellent synth work and really nice melodies. Not that keen on the sound of the synth that comes in at 5:45, but with the right sound I can imagine I'd really like that though.

Percussion sounds a little bit monotonal in places (too many similar hi-hats maybe? It's like they're all trying to hit the same place) and maybe a little bit 'standard' in the sounds you've used...

Other than that, excellent stuff - the synths really do make it stand out.

8.5/10 (oh yeah... getting accurate now!)

(Scale: 0 = don't bother, 1-3 = needs work, 4-5 = nearly there, 6-8 = releasable, 9-10 = I'd play it)

Indeed a good bassline in this one!!
I like the leadmelody too!!
Oh, a break now at 2 minutes.. Nice melody you introduced!!! Awsome!!
Hmm... The melody faded away as I expected a takeoff

But overall, this is excellent. Sound is superb

Nice bass-synth in the intro.. @ 1:00 it's getting really lovely

Nice harmonies @ 2:40 - And you just gotta love those melodies.. Wish I could produce like this, I always end up with some hard stuff or some crap

+ Reeally nice buildup
+ Audio Quality Is awesome
+ I love the melody that comes in at 5:45
+ Very original melodies

Really nice job.

Thanks for listening guys, I appreciate the excellent feedback. I'll definitely try beefing up the lead-in at the end of the breakdown, a reversed cymbal will work wonders.
The melodies in this are a little generic, I agree there, and it's definitely not a club stormer but cheers for the feedback on the production. As long as the sound quality is still up there I'm happy with it.
Thanks

hey phill.. you know what i think about this one already but just to reiterate, production quality sounding spot on there.. the melody is a bit 'happy' for my liking, and the bassline is quite nice.. keep it up mate!

Not signing this one to TTR? Whatever...

Interesting name.. I was thinking about naming one of my tracks "Track Titles In Trance Don't Matter"

13mb.. my 56k just had a heart-attack. Will listen to this after I find a way to download it.

i think you should change kick and clap they doesnt fit there(atleast for me) melodies are great really like them hmm later in track kick sound better except that great track, keep it up

Posted by Massive84 on May-31-2005 16:15:

nice start.

Rich with synths (y)

Melodies are great. synths are nice and rich with sound.

i think the hihat perc line is a bit to loud for my taste.

2.05 this transition comes to sudden, i rather hear it build.

Aesome synth though, melody is nice.

tune is imo to long.

really good melody imo, synth work is ace. perc could be a tiny bit better imo. especially in the main part.

melody is really awesome, maybe i would like to give it an remix attempt.

good mastering
good use of synths, build ups and effectives.
original synths

pleasure to listen to :P

Good track, and many thanks for the 192kbps give-away!

As Alan said, not reserved for TTR?

Yeah as I said in my first post, the file had to be named .mpe because my ISP simply deletes any file called .mp3, irrespective of who owns the copyright.

The file is actually a .mp3 file; most computers will just play a .mpe file straight away because that is a movie format (mpeg).

If your computer doesn't automagically play it, then simply rename the file to .mp3

I wouldn't submit the track as it is to a label, the second breakdown is shocking plus there are clipping issues and an automation error towards the end of the tune. That's why I don't mind sharing the full mp3

everyone else -
Thanks heaps for listening and for your feedback! It is much appreciated and I will take all of your comments on board for the final version

Listening,

Good pumping kick

nice eq and panning fx

intro is a bit short in terms of time (maybe 1 min longer?) and other elements coming in too soon.

I like the chaotic build up, lots of interesting sounds fading/panning in and out.

Synth work is awesome.

not too thrilled about the lead itself,

the track does stay "intense" and it never slows down or becomes calm imo, def like that build up (too short though ), Nice "build up" outtro!.

Good work overall man.

Kopi =o.

Thanks for listening Kenidel, I agree with you about the lead-in, it is a little short.
Cheers for the feedback mate!

hi pho your usual top quality producing with this one again mastering is so clean like all your productions, not as good as some of your other tunes but still great all the same thanks for full tune man

Posted by soundrush on Jun-03-2005 14:47:

damn... download took nearly 40 minutes (you should look for another webspace provider). anyway... i love this song. sounds like you put very much work in this. listening the 3rd time now and still can't find any complaint. i think the whole layout is brilliant, particular fragments (intro, break...) merge glueless. plus... the melody rules. dunno how to describe the melody exactly. i think its kinda subtle, therefrom the song is playable again and again without getting outworn. little gimicks like the filter at 3.52 making me mad in positive way .

you a bad ass producer pho mo.. keep up the good work.

nik.
