Webpage design programs
Hey everyone,
I've just decided it's about time for me to make a new personal webpage and I've come to the decision that I have no clue how to do it in this day and age. My last webpage used to look good about 5 years ago when I made it. Basically I just wrote it in HTML using vi. Now I want to have some cool features and the like and I realize that some programs will make my life a lot easier. And recommendations? I'm a huge fan of anyhting free. I am somewhat intelligent and do have a decent background in copmuters and programming so any program dosen't have to be the easiest to use as long as it works well. Oh, and currently I'm running XP on all my computers but I can get ahold of a linux box if need be..
Thanx

notepad.
how we did it in the good ol' days.
dreamweaver does it for me...
Dreamweaver is the best wsywyg editor you are going to find. I love it, but I still have to go in and tweak my code a lot manually.

Any text editor that shows line numbers and has coloured code, it's good enough for developing.
Adobe InDesign or CS Suite
usually its better to compile the layout in a wysiwyg and then cut the html by hand in a text editor.
I see,
So it seems that the concenus still is that manually doing you code in vi / notepad is the best way still. I just figured that new programs would have made life a lot easier, but apparently not by much Maybe I'll check out dreamweaver if I get the chance... Thanks guys
