Oh dear, poor swedish people !
This is no joke guys, not even april fool's
The gouvernment of Sweden have made a new law, a very stupid law that is. Now everyone who wants to buy a blank cd or dvd they have to pay some sort of "tax" to the gouvernment, due to too much piracy.
For each Mb, you have to pay 0.002 norwegian kroners, this may not seem much, but for a dvd consisting of 4.7Gb, you nearly have to pay 20 kroner, in US$ this equals $3.5. this is only for dvd-r, the price for dvd-rw is twice as much. so for a dvd-rw you end up paying the price for the dvd, then $7 in tax..
Wouldnt surprise me at all if norway followed this insanly stupid law...
We can do nothing but pity the swedish gouvernment

In the netherlands it has been for a long time that there is an extra on CD-r's that goes to Buma, the organisation that collects money for artists, due to piracy. Not really fair, as you make non-pirates pay, plus it sort of says it makes it legal to burn illegal stuff to cd (which isn't so), as you payed rights. Confusing and unnecessary.
But C'mon...
Not everyone who buys cds use them for audio!
imagine making this law for new Hdd

then why shouldt we pay a tax for crowbars? as known, they can be used to brake in to houses...
I'd just get them from other countries
they are trying to do this in UK also but for buying electronics items like ipods where they add a tax based on the storage capacity of the item and the likelyhood that music will be downloaded illegally

And for the record, they are planning to tax internet connections too, because everybody use internet to download copyrighted material and we all know it. So not only we have like the shittiest "broadband" in Europe but we are going to pay even more for it. Fuck the SGAE, I say.
im glad im in england atm
Infiniti 80min 48x Media [100 Pack] = 12.34 inc about 18 euro
so we arn't that far off, but that is quality branded stuff

they've had that in France for like 4 or 5 years on all blank cd dvd media.
Considering doing it to hard drives too.
The lame thing is the Sacem ( music copyright management org ) is so bad at distributing the rights that the artists never get what they're truly entitled to.
I really think this a only a way for the government to get more money, because they wont go to the right places (in most cases)
If the norwegian government didnt spend their money on shit, we wouldnt have equal laws like this.

Now THAT'S just f***ed.
That's like saying; "Oh - you bought some spraypaint, you're prolly going to tag on everything, that's expencive to clean. That'll be 1000us$ in pre-cleaning-tax"
Perhaps the Swedish government should just thorw you straight in jal once you buy a recordable device and charge you with attempted-theft. That'll save them all the trouble.
Ahh pre-crime

hehe yeah - the wonders of modern technology?!..
I think its amazing that the government pre-assumes that ppl only wanna harm the digital industry with copies etc, and therefor charges extra for e.g. cd's dvd's...
I know, this whole thinh is absolutely stupid.

| Huh, where did 250 come from? It's 25; they have 50GB discs too, in fact "TDK Develops 2X, 100GB Blu-ray Disc Prototype" (blu-ray.com). That's going to be so costly |
)sorry
