Solitude_Mko (320kbps) Full version [Melodic Trance]
Hey guys...
This is my attempt at writing a piece of Trance music. I guess chilled out trance is where this belongs, but its still a pretty fast tempo (142bpm). I made this in Reason, been working at it for a couple of months. Hope to get some feedback as always. Thanks.

My Firefox says "Error" when opening that site.
Works in my firefox...hmm. Try deleting your temp files and cache
Hey mate, nice tune here. Everything is clear and crisp. I love the delayed plucky synths throughout, they work really well. The feel is nice and chilled. All of the layers work really nicely together. The breakdown is very sweet.
A couple of productiony things stood out. The strings sound a little weak, they sound a bit vanguardish (i.e. not a very nice filter) to my ears. Also is the offbeat bass panned to the right? Basslines should generally sit right in the center.
One last weird panning thing, right towards the end when the clap stops, the kick drum was panned to the left, but wasn't panned any other time.
Overall very nice work mate
Thanks for the feedback Pho Mo.
-Strings: I'm using Reason's Malstrom thing for that sound. Can't seem to find anything better than that.
-Bassline: I will move them to the center. I just thought that I would get a better stereo effect if I had the 2 basslines, one left and right.
-Kick drum: I could not locate that pan, maybe it was during the MP3 compression process...I'll keep looking
It's funny cause I always try to come up with a Hard/driving trance sound and always end up with something chilled. Oh, well.
Thanks again.
LOL...yeah I always end up with something different than what I intend.
This is a very good production. It does seem a tad weighted on the right side to my ears. Until the piano break...that panned tingly synth is great!!
The break is a little long...it needs to come back in sooner or the dancers will get bored!! LOL.
When it DOES come in again it's good. I like your kick and your synth selection is nice. What happened to the ending?
Glad to hear this one! Nice work MKO!
Ya this was a awsome track. It had a good feel to it, a little softer then regular trance but very meledic. I like the main synth melody and the piano just topped it off. Bassline i think could of been a little bit more meaningfull. Cause it doesn't sound as much full as the other melodies do. Near the end though the kick sounded more on the left side so u might want to fix that and your ending could of gone a little more if u were gonna finish the song progressive. I think ending it with the pads and piano would of sounded a little nicer.Anyways it was a good track to listen too. Good work
Nice chilled trancer.
I like the soft kick coupled with that specific clap you used...
Sorta has a Rank 1 feel to it.
Can't really comment on EQ since im streaming this track at an unknown bitrate.
As for you ending up making a totally diff track from what you intended to do in the first place...
Same Here!
Most of the time I try to do something slow, chilled, proggy, but then I end up at 138-140bpm - Trance lol.

Nice use of placement of your percussion, I can notice some elements are placed to the left and others to the right, making space for the rest in the center.
The trance pad well Eq'd. No Muddiness in that one.
The arps are warm and subtle , trating well my ears.
I enjoyed this track because is nicely crafted, I can hear everything, and there is no anooying noise , humming , clipping or high frequencies molesting my ears.
Those claps, could use a bit more volume (just a tad).
Congrats, you got a nice melodic trance here.

Hey..Thanks for the great comments guys. I have much to do on this track. I will take each of your comments into consideration and try to edit this track.
Digital Aura: Agree, the break is a wee bit too long. I guess I got carried away with the melody. Must think of the millions of ravers that will be bouncing to my tune in the future =)
T Valor: Agree, the bassline needs a major face lift, I'm just horrible with creating a good baseline. I will try my best. I am also weak in the ending of my songs. I never know how to properly end a song. will work on that.
Kenidel Lopez: Rats, I thought that kick was going to sound harder...hehe. Back to the drawing board
PDM: Claps are so hard to find the right volume, will work on that.
Thanks again all...
Question: Would you guys rather have an MP3?
This is very good, the synthlines draw you in, nice bass it just needs to be louder, imo. It's so refreashing to hear this sort of Trance after all those boshwit "Gods" of Trance spread it so thin. This track goes in my butter list
.
Yeah this is nice, haha. It's panned weird but I like how everything has its own space. Great job...this is refreshing!
Alrighty...so I've made some changes to these according to some of the comments. This is the last post for this track that I will make.
Just use the same link at the top.
* Adjusted bassline to sound fuller
* Also added a subtle bassline
* Fixed panned drums
* lengthened ending
* tried shortening the break, but it just didn't sound right
Any comments always welcome...thanks.
A big thanks to anyone that listened to my track...
Doesn't work for me.
What exactly didn't work for you?
Wow, nice tune there man. I love the start, feels very tech oriented. Melody is pretty sweet too. It has a very old school armin feel to it. The mastering on it sounds pretty nice too but I'm not getting much from the kick. You could definately boost the lows some more.
Not sure about that noise just after the break. Is it a gated snare or something?
Hey. In a way this sounds pretty good. The sounds are not over exaggerated if you understand what I mean...
Bu on the other hand there are many things just not really right in this track. Imagine a mono sound system playing this. There's a chance that it only works with one channel. Or someone in a club who is near a speaker and hardly hears the other side, for what reason.. he'd miss half this track because of the panning your using here.. so take the panning a step back. The percussion is far too minimal, you need a few more layers here. Strings are too weak indeed, but so is the bass. I don't mean the low end but just the character of it, cause you it drowns a bit in the mix. Just a bit more mids or mid high, for more presence. The pluck thingy is pretty nice, I'd give the delay a bit more feedback. Start sounds a bit Icone-ish. Acid fx, bassline and plucks. The kick too, but this one is a bit too thin.. try to put a hat on it and maybe a layered kick with a low cut too. Piano is nice, but use another sample or plugin, cause I'm not fond of the sound..
Anyways, pretty nice ideas overal and it has potential.. just a little more work would be nice
Hey,
Thanks guys for the comments.

I'm not sure about that sound...man you guys have supersonic hearing, or I've just been listening to this track one too many times =)...I'll have to put on my trusty headphones and listen for that gate thing your talking about. Thanks!
Jay M-
I totally agree with you. The overall feel of this track is a bit thin all around. I will work on getting a 'fatter' sound. My production experience is limited so in time, hopefully I will progress. One thing though, about the panning sound...So panning is a no-no then? The reason why I pushed certain elements left and right is because someone else commented on a different song and told me to not always have everything centered...hmm, not sure what to do now. Cause if everything is centered, all sounds will be heard no matter what the situation, But then doesn't that make the track sound dull? But anyways, thanks for your input!
Very well made track, nice melodies and sounds. Nice and laid back, could kind of imagine watching the sun rise or set to it lol
Can't really fault the production, sounds pro. Maybe more detailed pad sweeps and intricate sounds might make it stand out more for me, but that's just more the sound I'm into.
Good work though, keep it up.
7/10
(Scale: 0 = don't bother, 1-3 = needs work, 4-5 = nearly there, 6-8 = releasable, 9-10 = I'd play it)

It's good to have some panning, of course, but some instruments are just panned too much. I hear you have an instrument panning like it's floating around you.. but it its pretty upfront so it's cool to spin but in smaller circles
Look at a concert, the put the drums (back) in the center, guitar left, guitar right, keys a bit left or right (back) and the singer -> center! And that's how you hear it. The more upfront in the mix, the more careful you should be with panning.
Too much panning ain't good. No panning ain't either.
