i agree w/ dave...good crowd...was loud, energetic, and i didnt get bumped all around like i did @ tiesto (tho i stayed in the balcony)
2 more tracks i kno he played:
ava mea - in the end (started out w/ this)
blank and jones - perfect silence (e-craig remix)
most memorable part for me was when he played perfect silence and teased the crowd during the breakdown before dropping it, got everyone wild...great mix tho, i may post pics + video 2morrow
i almost went....but didn't have tickets and when i saw the crowd out front i turned around....lol
i'm sure people were going crazy inside, but me and the ruby skye clientelle don't mix very well...
saving up for tonight and sunday...so undecissive still
Well, luckily I didn't have to sit in the crowd, but from what I could tell, it was a good crowd. I mean, very energetic and it looks like everyone knew what Armin was playing....didn't have a 75% fake crowd who is there just so they can say they've seen Armin...think they are cool.
Anyhow, got there around 10pm and the place was still pretty dead. Was pretty suprised. Taj was opening and while I wasn't really looking forward to hearing him spin, I must say that I'm glad I did! He rocked! Last couple of times I've heard Taj spin he didn't really play anything energetic, but he did it proper last night. Kudos to Taj.
The floodgates for people showing up seemed to open right at 11. By 11:20, the whole place was jamming.
Armin got to Ruby Skye shortly before midnight and made his way to the stage after getting a breather in the private room upstairs. We chatted for a few minutes and you could tell he had just woken up, lol. He said he was pretty jet lagged and didn't really have a chance to catch up on much sleep as he got into SF around 6pm. He said he was ready to have some fun, though.
Armin hit the decks around 12:10 and just ripped the place apart for the next 4+ hours. I want to say he was only supposed to do a 3 hour set, because at like 3:20 he stopped, then started playing an encore (Burned with Desire)....after encore, after encore. He played an hour of encores, lol. It was awesome.
I don't really go out of my way to be a trainspotter, so I'll leave that to you guys. Just know he nodded to me at the end and I put up the 2-4 sign with my fingers and the next track he played was 24...although it was probably just coincedence.

That was a awesome party. Armin played most of the choons I wanted to hear, CQ was a pleasant surprise, and I was front and center pumpin him on the whole time. Can't wait 'til he comes back to SF...

Haha, awesome, you got a pic of Armin grabbing my CD to sign

im so jealous. LOL...i remember when I saw TAJ opening up for Marco V at the love parade preparty last year...and i said to my friend "who the fuck is that ugly chick up there spinnin?" LOL. Little did I know it was a dude. Ha.
Awesome Armin set in SF
My girlfriends and I had an awesome time, Armin was so friendly...and fun to watch. Played a lot of the favorites from ASOT 2005, also threw in my favorite thrillseekers remix of "need to feel loved". We had great night!
)
Oh, and BTW, I was embarrassed to be white last night, lol.
Talk about the white guy dance, a bunch of the dudes on stage...OMG! Dude, if you can't dance, just hop like a bunny or something (ie, the trance jump), but don't try to dance and look fucking retarded. I had to sit back a few times because I was embarrassed of the stereotype at that moment.
And then there was Mr. Rubber up there. Oh my lord. What in the hell was that. It wasn't dancing...it was funny more than anything.
Amen, Dave...

yeah ruby ske attracts about 300 poeple every weekend night regardless of who is playing...
think about how many people decide the day of "lets go to ruby skye" and to them $30 cover is nothing cause ruby skye is the spot to go...i love the 50 year old suits/cougars that roll in and you can tell they have no idea what is going on with the music/dj...
but they are either gone by 3am or still high off their kite..lol..
Well, last night was pretty much sold out going in....all presales did sell out at one point, but GK then release a few more tickets.
They pushed everyone from the balcony to the main floor around 3 as usual, but when all was said and done, I'd say 60-70% of the people there at 1am were there at 4am, so....good crowd.
I remember when Oakey played there last January...man, by 3:10am, there were maybe 30-40 people left. Was pitiful. Shows how much people love Armin, I guess....he does bring out non-regular club goers.
Dave
But wasn't Oakenfold there on a weekday? And doesn't he spin shit now anyway? :P
nope, it was a Friday night. For Martel & Nabiel (aka Release SF on certain nights).
Oakey then played on a Saturday at Ten15 for "Release SF" last May and apparenly played a mindblowing set. Best set people had heard from him in a long, long time....then he played again after that on a weekday night, for Tsunami charity and sucked ass. Oh well, raised almost $40,000 that night.
Dave
Oh, I thought you were talking about the Charity event originally.
Nope nope, the January event...cause I remember it well.
My Ruby Skye connections at the time were very limited, so I had to pay to get in (was like $40 or $45 bones, but I'm an Oakey hopeful at heart)...but it sold out and 200 tickets were being sold at the door when doors open at 9pm. I get there at like 7:45 and there was already a HUUUGEEE line. Luckily, I knew the very first group in line and was a bitch and skipped everyone. It started sprinkling a little after 8 so they went ahead and started telling tickets at the door, but made you leave once you got your stamp and you could come back at 9.
I remember the night because Behrouz was AWESOME! I know a lot of house fans rave over him, but I have through he was boring as fuck everytime I saw him before that night...and well, since that night for that matter. He opened and closed for Oakey this night and was great. Oakey was actually decent, and it was a good thing a friend and I found the perfect spot where for some reason people never wanted to crowd or pass by...so we were really never bothered.

....Burned with Desire encore tore the roof off. Anyways had an awesome time and I can't wait till he comes back, until then I'll see Markus next weekend. Good seein you Dave, heres the trax I heard during the night, not in any order (lots of ASOT 2005 tunes!).
Dave your a lucky man, what I would do to get on stage to shake armin's hand...
Armin was amazing! I loved his set, Enmass - CQ was played at a perfect peak of the crowd's enthusiasm, got me going to the point I had to stop dancing cause I almost couldnt breathe. One thing I couldnt stand was the people that would push you out of the way to stand in front you to not dance. It happened to me no less than 10 times all night. I thought that the crowd around 3am was cool but from 12:10 to 3 it was all bump and push and shove, and of course the people not dancing in front of me all night.
All in all armin is an amazing mixer and his track selection/timing was perfect. I really cant wait to see him again!
