Is this trance? [little sample inside]

I just came up with this...I kinda like it...doesn't sound too crappy for what I usually come up with. Is it trance or another genre? I don't listen to enough trance to know all the different variants.
Clicky here!

replace "-" with "." makes this:

http://oobe.myftp.org/oobe-untitled3.mp3

and i think its house or something (???????)

Posted by RiCo on May-29-2005 00:12:

Hehehe I mistyped the URL. So you think it's house? Hmmm...

Too much bass! My poor subwoofer! It drowned the rest of the music out. O.o

Needs to be mixed... but who knows, maybe that's exactly what you were going for.

It's more to Psy Trance...
check www.digitallyimported.com , click on Listen menu and choose Goa-Psy/Trance, you will find something similar...

I put it togeteher as an idea and exported it to MP3. It hasn't been mixed or EQ...be thankful it didn't explode your sub, hehe.

If you like Psy, check Astrix and his album "ArtCore"... It's impressing!

Posted by RiCo on May-29-2005 23:44:

I'll check it...but I've never listened to Psy, hehe. I just put together that short sample because it sounded good to me.

Posted by luizmenezesjr on May-30-2005 00:06:

Me too..... I've always listened to trance, but now i'm producing Psy...
Here in brazil, the open-air partys/raves just play Psy...
So if I want to play live, i have to play Psy

Posted by RIPassion on May-30-2005 03:05:

Hmm, very cool. Seems like a perfect combination of tech house/psy trance.

Posted by thoughtlessjex on May-30-2005 04:10:

This is definitely along the lines of psy trance. That distorted lead almost reminds me of Klein Aber Doctor by Atmos. The lead could stand to be a bit fuller and have a bit more on the delay. Play with bandpass filters to get a more nasal sound, too.

Posted by qiushiming on May-30-2005 07:28:

as usual rico does some awesome work....that was tite man!

i agree...psytrance all the way

Posted by RiCo on May-31-2005 00:41:

Thanks a lot, guys...so I guess that accidentaly, I discovered Psy, huh? Hehe, I'm gonna play with the bandpass filter...you guys are right...it needs more "nasalness" to it...it's too buried. And I made all the sounds with V-Station from scratch. I'm getting pretty good at programming what I need...YAY!

Posted by ErikC on May-31-2005 00:55:

It was nice but where is the psytrance part? It sounded more like fresh regular trance..

Posted by RiCo on May-31-2005 01:46:

Erik, I'm guessing that the lead and the "continousness" of the track makes it Psy! So...do you guys think I'm still sounding "noobish" or have I improved from before?

Posted by DJMaytag on May-31-2005 02:10:

sounds alot like classic trance to me. most of the current breed of "trance" really isn't trance from a historic perspective.

Posted by luizmenezesjr on May-31-2005 02:12:

This is more to psy trance, the 303 sound are fine for the genre, the one note bass too, but the arp isn't...

That's why it's MORE to psy, but everyone hear with your own ear (shure!)

Posted by RiCo on May-31-2005 02:16:

So what is it then? (current breed of "trance")

Well, if I would've known what I was doing, it would've been inclined to one genre, hehe, but like I said, it just sounded cool so I made it, hehe. That's why I asked what it was since it didn't sound too "normal", hehe. And I didn't know what Psy trance was until a few months ago.

It's very good... if you finish your track, It will be a good one..

The arp sounds and others can appear in other part of your song (maybe on the break)...

Keep with the good work.

Thanks, man!

garbage

Euro/epic trance would describe the uplifting style of Armin/PVD/MIKE etc. To an extent Tiesto too.
