I like this better than Morning Star. It has like a prog vs the 80s feel. I like the fusion. In fact, now that I'm hearing more... I really like it. This is your best track yet.

Posted by PDM on May-29-2005 07:38:

I like this mate. Good work.

Niice track to liste to, nice progression , nice transitions, the only thing I'm not digging are the vocals...

Keep it up mate.

Posted by gerrycueto on May-29-2005 11:58:

maybe you could make a dub version, but the vocals were cool IMO

Posted by Digital Aura on May-29-2005 12:38:

Thanks Gerry & PDM.

Now that's good to hear that I'm improving then! I rather like the sample, but they're uncleared samples and I may have to remove them anyways. We'll see.

Posted by Gladius on May-29-2005 16:29:

hmm i like it too! very unique sound. the vocals don't really irritate me, they're ok.
Your style is so versatile. I just listened again to 'of spirit and electronica', what a great tune, you should make more ambient stuff =).
keep it up!

Nice tunes, I like it; even it's not my 'style'

Posted by gerrycueto on May-29-2005 19:22:

yeah this sound is definately great... I would ditch the Morning Star type stuff and persue this.

Nice progressive tune.

Interesting fxs and overall atmosphere.

Vocals are ok, could live with or without.

I like that electronic/experimental feel to this track, lots of elements and panning to keep me interested.

Only gripe is the kick which is too thin and is also drowned out when all the "bells and whistles" are flowing.

Maybe a thumpier, thicker kick that will make its prescence felt may sound better (the reveerb on it probably takes away some of its power).

Awsome
This is one out of very few tracks which has actually putten me into trance Seriously, I was in another state of mind while listening!!! I love this! Normally I'm into uplifting melodic stuff, but this totally blew my mind!! Maybe add some more reverb on the vocals, that's the only thing I can say

EDIT:
The vocals are soooooo brilliant. They HAVE to stay.

Posted by Digital Aura on May-29-2005 21:59:

Alex..thanks so much for your listen. Means alot to me, as you know I'm a big fan of your stuff too!
I totally agree about the samples...I had to keep 'em ..they just suited so much IMO.

Again, thanks Gerry...the Morning Star had its "shining" moment. Maybe it would be better as a dub without the vocals but this one definitely needs the samples.

Hey.

-Good Indian groove. I might recomend bringing it in slower.
-Interesting mix of Indian and Australian styles .
-The vocals are a little offbalance with the EQ. One important thing to remember is that vocals, esepcially those that are spoken, arent meant to be used to drive the song. Therefore, theres not much need to have a thick lower end to the spectrum on the vocals. I'm not saying kill the entire bottom end, that would make the sound brittle and telephone-like, but just drop the lower end off with a 12dB highpass filter and set it around 600Hz or so. Use the song 'Eye Wall - Bad Deal' as a good reference for these types of vocals .
-The grungy bass is good, but a little too loud. Seems to just be dropped in accidently becuase it isnt melding right now. Drop the volume and it should fit right in.
-Decent break. I like the square you have going on in it.
-Awesome breakin. It makes the connection well.
-Good grinding rythm. It fits the song very well. Its repetative but not overly noticable.

Overall, its a good track. There is one thing I'd like to point out though that would only be noticable in a mix with other songs; through the entire track, the highs are lacking. The entire track seems to be under a lowpass filter giving it a... dead feel, no vibrance or excitement. I think if you could correct just the highs, you have a decent song, but it would be a great song if you patched it up some more .
Grade A

Cheers,
Zac

Its from Fox Films "Flight of the Phoenix" (2004)

Kind of a stupid movie, but I couldn't shake that saying from my mind for days. So I re-rented it to rip the vox.

oh and thanks for the kind remark. Glad I'm moving forward still!

Yo Digital Aura, this is definitely the best track I've heard from you so far, the excellent vocal really focuses the track and the rest is a great journey. This song oozes character!
Coming out of the breakdown is brilliant - If you can't give him that ... Just give him something to do!
Production quality is pretty good, although the bass end seemed slightly lacking, then again it's not intended to be a real stormer so there you go. There's heaps of cool panning fx and shit going on that gives the track a great fullness.
Really well focused track with a great vocal sample theme and a unique character. Top stuff mate!

Nice work on this one. Pretty downtempo proggy stuff, but great use of samples and the synth programming is pretty tight too.

Theres a very dark feel to it. The mastering feels very thick, like everthing is coated in molases or something. You've used a lot of reverb to good effect.

The bit right after the break is lacking something, though I'm not sure what. I dunno, maybe I'm just not used to progressive tracks and the way they build up.

Nice work tho

Ok I like the main melody.
I think you should remove the snare roll.
Replace the snare sample. It sounds so empty.
Add more reverb to the vocals.
Nice bass.

I'd give it 3/5

Listening now

Minor comments on things I would adjust:
-I dont think the vocals sound bad, but maybe not use them that much.

-Also theres a lot of reverb on this track, I'd look into lowering the
output to reverb on some parts.

-Not too keen on that snaredrum sound you're using.

Its a good track though. Nice work!

Dude awesome track you got here... Like the vocals which are very essientail to this type of production, Liking the Ambiance all around!
Good Luck!!

<- WOW!

I followed this link under your name from my thread, and boy am I suprised by your latest production. This is definately the best from all your work. Love the sampling. This isn't Melodic trance imo, its definately more 'melodic prog' if thats a genre . Its got a real G&D/Chable feel to it. Love the racing melodies. The break down is pretty damn deep. "if you can't give him that, just give him something to do!"
The only thing I dont like is the deep bass thing that comes in the intro and after the peak at 4:54. Sounds a little cheesy compared to the rest of the track.

Other than that, effects, samples, melodies, sythns they're all great!

Posted by thoughtlessjex on Jul-10-2005 00:58:

I like the squealchy acid bass.

I think Bass could be a little bit more present, personally.

A pretty good track. A good groove and very proggy atmosphere. Good work.
