Help with Iriver

Hey Guys,

Recently upgraded the firmware on my iriver H320 and what it did was change it to a ver 1.25 E (which im pretty sure is a different version to what it originally was). Now the problem is when I connect it to my usb, mp PC does not recognise it at all! Im pretty sure I need to install a driver which coincides with this version, however cant find one. Any help would be much appreciated?

Sid

Sid we have had a similar problem with our iriver not being recognised at all. Our one is still able to be recognised on some computers but not others. We could not find a solution to it on the computer side. We tried upgrading to the latest version of windows, the latest drivers e.t.c. e.t.c. Didn't fix it. We ended up giving up on it and using the iriver with the computer it still worked with.

Let me know if you find a solution.

Cheers,
Josh

I have the exact same issue. Let me know what the problem is once you solve it :P

Like I said before, go to http://www.misticriver.net/boards/ - post your question there and I'm sure you'll get lots of help....those guys know their Iriver stuff!!

Posted by Beemer on May-29-2005 12:59:

Just had a lil looky myself, and looks like your problem is a common one, related to Windows, not the Iriver player...looks like you need to edit your puter's registry.....go to http://www.misticriver.net/boards/s...ead.php?t=15293 for the how-to

Posted by Beemer on May-29-2005 13:25:

one last thing...noticed you're using 1.25 firmware - latest (and best, it seems) version is actually 1.28 - you can find a link to it through misticriver

ETA: don't use the E (European) firmware - use the K (Korean) instead. The Korean version allows files to be played at a higher maximum volume - volume is lower with the European version due to French noise regulations.

well just half solved the issue! u still use the 'data' port to retrieve the drive on your pc. When you plug it in and it starts to charge, just press the on button and it will switch to connecting mode!

will upgrade to version 1.28 now and see if I can get my 'media' port to work again though

Posted by Sid on May-29-2005 16:15:

media port still doesn't work, but makes no difference using the data port!

1.28 k rocks! grab it from iriver.com

Once you upgrade firmware on a US player, Windows will never recognise the Iriver through the media port - but, like you said, it's not really needed anyway...only the data port is important

Glad to see another Iriver convert

took me quite a while to figure why i couldn't get the pc to recognise the iriver. There's a soft switch for USB charging. If it's set to charge via USB, you can't use it as an external drive. The other major downfall of this setup is if the battery is dead, you can't switch it on to reset to allow charging via USB.

just use the ac adaptor when uploading files

Posted by tubby on May-30-2005 04:52:

but i don't carry the adaptor everywhere, and I tend to leave the usb cable at work since that's where I download.

i tried recording straight from the mixer recently, with the line in volume at 15. Sounds good when played back on the iriver, but clips when I transferred the file to PC. If you have better results, can you let me know what settings you used?

Posted by Sid on May-30-2005 05:21:

can someone please email me the full program of Iriverter to [email protected]. I wont let me download it from the site and I need this program to concert my mpeg's so my iriver can play them?
