My simple booth mod
When i first bought MY CDJ i had no room to put it. Then i figured i had just enough space to put between the turntables and the mixer if raised them so the cdj would not keep tangled with the wires that are in back of the mixer. I was using sytrofoam for this:

This in turn looked gettho as hell. So off the Home Depot and used my knowledge of imagaination knew i could come with something if i saw it. It's when i came to the sewer pipe section that it hit me!
(1x) 2in wide x 2ft sewer pipe
(4x) rubber test plugs
(4x) screw on hard plastic plugs
With the 2ft pipe i cut them to (2x) 4 inch peices and (2x) 6 inch pieces.
Then i proceeded to drill a hole through the hard plastic so i can put bolts through them:

[NOTE: the white cable is not cut, just looks that way in the pic]
I put the two 4inch pipes in the front and 2 6inch pipes in the back

Now it's look really cool. VERY sturdy,NO wobbling, and NO vibrations at all.

With this setup i have EXACTLY enought room to put 2 turntables, a CDJ, and my mixer on a 47.5 inch (121 CM) table. Lastly i didn't like my speakers how they were in the first picture, so i got the angeled facing the "booth" hanging from the ceileing a little above standing head room. SOUND EVEN BETTER THEN BEFORE!
Any of you guys done any modifications or other things to improve the sound or setup in general?
pretty cool , i change my setup around aswell the other night and its way way better. how you find that mixer i picked one up today for 50 euro, havent used it yet tho need to get a voltage converter first.
i'm in the US
Thats seriously badass. It kinda' looks like a professional booth minus the mixer
Thanks for showin' us!
i know about the mixer. hopefully sometime fairly soon it'll become a Xone
Ace idea. Once I get my shit togeather I'll definatly be attempting to make a setup like that, looks pretty niffty.
That is seriously some creative shit. Good job man!
Looks cool but is it stable and is there a chance those plastic pipe legs will tip over if the deck is bumped? Maybe screw the legs to a thin rectangular piece of plywood used as a base.

I bolted the Hard plastic part (which of course through trough the table, but wood screws would do the same job) so that it doesn't move at all. I put the pipes on top of the hard plastic and it's good enough. The only way that CDJ is going to fall is somebody turn the whole table over. it's not going anywhere. Even when i forcefully try to move it, it doesn't.
That's pretty sick shit man.
I love the styrofoam part, now thats ace!
I think your next upgrade should be the mixer
OK I get it now. Hmmm that would also be a good way to mount a laptop that is part of a system - extra space underneath gives better cooling.

heres mine... just done today
all 1/2inch pipe nipples from homedepot
yes i said nipples... lets be mature now.
the folowing parts are what i used for EACH stand.
cost: 40 dollars, 15 minutes each
6x 4" nipples for the two half lengths of the turntable base and half widths of the cdj base
2x 5" nipples for the half widths of the turntable base
3X 12" nipples for the horizontal cdj connection to the base and legs for the cdjs
1x 24' nipple for the vertical part cdj stand
4x floor flanges for the turntable legs
7x 90degree street valves to hold up the flanges, to connect the cdj base to the stand of the pole, to keep the cdj from sliding down
6x tees... to connect the nipples
1x 90 degree elbow to connect the vertical pole with the horizontal connection to the turntable base

there goes a nut. nice shit man.
nice setup jade. verry nice
but i recall reading somewhere that there is a maximum angle you can use for the CDJs... anyone know it?
i'm not saying jade's is reaching the max but i was just curious after looking at his setup.
thanks for the comments
interesting... well i didnt find anything in the manual abotu the angle. from a mechanical standpoint i do not really see why there would be a maximum angle
could you be thinking about a maximum angle when the cdjs are on a table... becuase you wont be able to insert a cd?
i havent had a chance to really mix on it for a long time... they came in today lol and i spent all of it finding parts for the stand.. will update if there is anything wrong
very slick mod.
looks cool man. I went the budget route and stole a lecturne from school and used it as an elavated platform for my cdjs. Actually looks pretty cool...
Very nice! I'll probably adopt something similar if I get CD decks, thats a really great idea, been wondering what the best way of doing it would be.
Although I would change it a little, and at the top where you have a 90 degree turn from the vertical pole to the horizontal projection, I would make that a T-piece, and likewise at the bottom.
Then run your cables through the centre of the tubing to remove it rfom view. The power plug may be a little too large (unless you can unscrew one end), but you should be able to do it with the RCA outs.
haha yea i thought about that but the tees were 50 cents more >: ) this setup is very temporary and i know im gonna be moving that stuff around, maybe even out to bars or clubs so i didnt want to deal with the pipes and routing wires. the pipes themselves are very dirty and greasy so i will definitly minimize the amount of touching that im gonna have to do when moving them around...specially when bottom elbow needs to be scewed in so tightly (that 24" makes a very nice lever btw... you can temporarily screw that one into other joints and tighten them)
actually i just thought about this..
you could get reducing elbows so that that 24inch piece is like... 3/4" or something like that... would definitly make it larger and easier to deal with. only problem that it will add alot of connections. i have a very limited amount of room.
turntables make a great anchor though... next up i may make a real stand for my mixer and add a connection for an efx to sit right between the cdjs... when i get one that is. also a connection for monitors would be nice.
god bless the home depot
seriously such a good place.
