One final word for the road from Phreek and Rob!
Phew, we traveled from all over the midwest...
Ummmm....
I just realized it's 8:30 in the morning and I don't really want to do this...
We had a good time... thanks go to Mathias, Russ (And his girlfriend whose name I don't remember....), Tom, Ashley, Steve, Todd, Adam, Al, and the rest of the Forward/Detroit crew whose names I've forgotten... and a very VERY large thank you to Amber and Marcus/Ryan (You are offficially to be known to me as Marcus/Bryan
), without you guys who knows how we'd have spent our post-bleu DEMF night... but with you kids I had quite possibly the best possible experience I could possibly have for a first time to Detroit!
...and abosolutely no thanks at all to Atari Addict for no showing the event in his own town

We missed ya Trestin!
Chris and I promise to check in with our full reports (full of all kinds of sketchy details, vagueries, questionable events, and all around goodness!) along with whether or not we're even sure we can verify this weekend occurred... as soon as we can confirm the details...

Hahahaha I can totally relate all the terminals are far apart and such it's a bit complicated oh and yeah it's one of the busiest transit airports in the country.

Well since Friday I've managed to get an entire 5 1/2 hrs of sleep. 4 1/2 Friday night and a restless hour on Saturday morning (after we staggered into the hotel room at 8:30am).
Sketchy detail #3: Detroit cab drivers will screw people from out of town.
Sketchy Detail #4: (Un)Happy's Pizza
Sketchy Detail #5: Where's our towels?
Sketchy Detail #6: Fitting waaay too many people in 1 ride and covering up the 2 in the back with blankets (thanks dan, julie, and mike... i think i would rather walk then take a cab again)

**EDIT** btw these are all just minor sketch details, tho i'm glad i didn't have to deal with the crackrok inn since rob got us out of there before we even arrived, there is nothing negative i could say about this entire weekend (cept' for detail #3
) it was a blast and i can't wait for next year!!
oh, and topher, ben, and chris...
someone left a pair of brown shoes in the hotel room... by the time i made it downstairs you guys had already jetted so hit me up with a IM / PM and i'll get them back to you.
Sketchy Detail #7: Being the only 2 white people in IHOP...an IHOP that searches at the door after 10pm. Add to that...nvm, Joe knows.
Overall great night for Markus, KT, and Elevation. Met some great people (Rob, Chris, Topher, Ben - and Russ, lifesaver with the ride after Schulz) Glad I brought my earplugs, too - though I do love to hear the noise, it is cool to simply feel it. Besides, I had enough good thumpin noise to keep me company on the ride home. Sorry I couldn't stay for JXL but I had to work today and I know myself...a 2nd day in a row would've buried me energy-wise.
Time to recharge for Ferry, Oakey, and Sharam @ Moda!

i was joe, btw. and damn, richie?!? sounds like you got to stay for all of monday too
all you boys that i met at bleu for markus were complete wrecks when we finally found each other! some help ya'll are for a girl flying solo in a strange city in a strange club
anyway here is my little review (still tired, but i have to do this before my old feeble mind forgets!)
saturday - landed around noon, woke up my friend at the hotel, went out to buy some groceries, took a short nap and then went down to fuse-in festival - the weather was great - not too cold and not too hot, went to the various stages and just ended up catching up with everyone (about 20 of us were staying at the same hotel, but were coming at different times), got to see john tejada spin a really good set in the early evening (hope my friends can get him to chicago sometime soon!) and ran into even more chicago peeps, headed back to hotel around 9 pm and ditched my friends and went to bleu solo - got to bleu around 11 or so. liked kt's set and glad that he dropped owner of a lonely heart (i'm a child of the eighties) and then i finally got to see markus for the first time, after trying about 3 or 4 other times. really liked his set - very solid and i didn't get bored anytime during his set and i finally got to hear the track gone on a big sound system and it sounded GREAT! - bleu is a really nice club - only 2 complaints - the dj booth is way too dark - could hardly see markus up there and secondly, there isn't really anyplace to sit where you can see the dj if you just want to relax and chill. oh yeah - met some ta's - but they were all complete wrecks by that time
- met up with my friends that i was staying with and went to the substance party - which was sketchy as hell, but complete detroit techno scene - had to go through the back alley to get in and there were 2 rooms (i heard there were 2 other rooms on the 5th floor, but didn't know that at the time) where we heard some great minimal techno. got back to the hotel and hung out for a while and then sleep finally around 10 am.
sunday - headed down to the festival and spent most of the time at the underground stage and then headed to our friend's party - the defender party - left to go to the tronic party, but heard that the place was a complete wreck so headed back to our friends party and ran into even more chicago peeps! everyone (all 20 of us) headed back to the hotel and decided to have afters in my hotel room (we had a nice suite) and that lasted until the late afternoon of monday.
monday - finally got some sleep and then went to see hawtin - the main reason i went to detroit - at the undergound stage at the festival. the place was already getting packed when we arrived early to see luciano spin and then richie came on and threw down an INCREDIBLE set - i've seen him 3 times and he can have terrible sets (such as the one he did in chicago at house of blues), but this set just blew me away - i danced the whole time, except when i had to take a break or die of heatstroke. the set ended around midnight and then we headed to the "private" afters where richie spun for another 3 hours or so (my friend's who are HUGE richie fans and have seen him in japan were able to sweet talk our way into the party) - the afters was held at this place that only held around 150 ppl and it was underground - so it was PERFECT for richie - nice and intimate setting and the place was dark as hell, but the perfect setting for him. another incredible set from richie but sadly, it ended. i think that this night has to be one of my top 3 nights out (along with lawler's harlem nights and tripwire/mazi at fabric) - i had always heard about richie's infamous afters parties from my friends and he did not disappoint!!!!! ended up staying up until 9:00 when i headed to the airport, but of course - my plane was delayed due to mechanical problems - which is the last thing you want to hear after being up 24 hours+.
all in all, a GREAT weekend and i think i liked this better than wmc down in miami - it's much more laid back, underground and experimental - not as much glam crap going on. definitely going back next year!
I was not wrecked.
Last time I was at Bleu is another story...
I didnt know you were flying solo for Markus or I wouldve insisted you stick around with us. I agree with you about the DJ booth, though. I liked Metropolis' setup much better...thumpin loud, ample seating, and lots of space.
SORRY!!!
Some things came up that furthered my financial debt, and the one time my crew headed down to the city... I wasn't informed. Glad to hear everyone had fun. Believe me I would have loved nothing more than to be there and at bleu for three days straight.
