UK , German or Dutch trance , your pick

What do reckon is the best style of trance out of these three?

I personally prefer nice UK trance

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Nov-29-2001 14:45:

i dunno if there is a 'best' style. hehe. they're all really good and unique in there own way. each country is renowned for their trance stylez. so i pick all 3. hehehe. but i have been listening to more german and netherlands trance these days. the prog i listen to is more uk tho.

I'm into really uplifting stuff, so its out of Dutch or English for my favourite, but Germans got it's merits

Posted by Blik on Nov-29-2001 17:42:

it all depends on what you think is UK Trance, and what is Dutch trance, and German Trance

to me:

German Trance: the Banging trance
Dutch Trance: Uplifting
UK Trance: Progressive and garage

I like the German and Dutch Trance the best

Garage is Trance?

I didn't know Garage was Trance!

Posted by Eugene on Nov-29-2001 19:26:

There was a time when I, like Blik, thought that UK trance was mostly about prog/garage. Being an epic-uplifting fan myself, I went exclusively for Dutch and German trance.

But I recently discovered how wrong I was. What about Sunscreem, for example? Songs like "Exodus" and "Please save me" are spectacular. And K90? I really like K90's epic synths combined with a driving, pulsating bassline. Finally, I just got a record called Hypnotic State - Empathy (UK artists), which is extremely powerful and epic.

I would say these UK artists produce top-quality melodic trance, and I probably left out many others.

Posted by DRM on Nov-29-2001 20:14:

Eugene is spot on, there are many brilliant UK trance producers who dont get much recognition, and others who do but most dont think they are British, such as Above & Beyond, Michael Woods (?), Lange, Agnelli & Nelson, Coast 2 Coast to name just a few. So its not just about prog in the UK. As for my fav, i love all types, German for harder edged trance, Dutch for the uplifting and epic and the UK for a bit of a mixture.

Peace

Ok I see now there are somes

Posted by Linx_da_cat on Nov-29-2001 20:18:

nice one ravemonkey. that's a good way of putting it. same goes for me. every country has awesome artists that produce a variety of genres. so it's hard to say that this country is 'this' kind of trance i guess. unless you're referring to the dominant 'sound' of that country.

Posted by Jayci on Nov-29-2001 20:31:

I also agree that each of those countries have many artists that product different types of trance, but considering the dominant sound in each country, I would say I'm a fan of Dutch music because a lot of uplifting stuff I do hear seem to come from the Dutch artists.

I was gonna say him but i wasnt 100% certain he was british, so i didnt in fear of being flamed! lol

Speaking of Coast 2 Coast, I heard a track by them some days ago, can't remember the title, must be quite new I guess. It's not a remix, one of their own productions. How could it be called? I kinda liked it!

Posted by DRM on Nov-29-2001 21:38:

Yeah they do have a new track out called Coast 2 Coast - Be With Me. Its a little more proggy than a lot of their other stuff but still a great track imo.

Posted by Ste on Nov-29-2001 22:12:

dutch and german is the best, english "trance" is pretty crap. we specialise in prog over here really, which is of a high standard.

Posted by Az on Nov-29-2001 22:32:

errrm English Trance rules
Matt Darey
Rob Searle
Darren Tate
Jono Grant + Tony Mcgregor (Above and Beyond, Free State)
Faithless (back in the day)
Solar Stone are english right??

>JM<

Posted by integrity1 on Nov-30-2001 04:57:

i am partial to all 3 three styles but id have to say dutch is my favorite. it just has a cool postive vibe to it. not to take anything away from the uk cause like you guys said matt darey and scott bond are british or germany but for the banging hard beats i usually stick to my favorite country in that department, switzerland.
