Star Wars Episode III

I know chill out room may be more appropriate, but I'd rather not debate with idiots. Thoughts, reactions...

Posted by DJMaytag on May-31-2005 05:18:

thank god Jar Jar didn't say a god damn word!

Posted by kush paintings on May-31-2005 05:24:

Why ignore, there are some great philosophical undertones to the star wars series, in addition to political ones. The Republic becomes the Empire. "Liberty ends with the sound of applause"

Posted by DJMaytag on May-31-2005 05:31:

how about Anakin's line "If you're not with me, then you are my enemy", which sounded awfully like what Cheney said.

Posted by Dervish on May-31-2005 05:33:

What does he need to post an uniteresting article and then go "discuss" for it to be a topic for discussion?

The series does have alot of relavance, especially today. Playing on peoples fears to take away their libertys wonder where I've heard of that before

how dare you call us idiots

who would win in a death match R2D2 or 3CPO?

I THINK THE NEW STARWARS MOVIE THE PHANTOM MENACE WAS GREAT I LIKED QUI GON JINN AND OBI WON KENOBI. THE BEST I LIKED DARTH SIDIOS TO DARTH MAUL WITH HIS ORANGE EYES AND TEETH LOOKED PRETTY COOL.

Posted by Aquarian on May-31-2005 05:55:

I've seen right-wingers whine like crybabies that star wars was 'anti-bush propaganda'. Funny thing is, the plots were written decades ago, and were greatly inspired by hitler's rise to power. That should tell them something!

Posted by igottaknow on May-31-2005 06:04:

dear star wars i just wanted to tell you that i just got one of them new lightswords its so cool. HERE ARE SOME WORDS THAT YODA ALWAYS SAYS: MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU. FEAR LEADS TO ANGER ANGER LEADS TO HATE HATE LEADS TO THE DARK SIDE

Posted by Dervish on May-31-2005 06:05:

I dunno why this got moved (orig. from PDD):

quote:
'In terms of evil, one of the original concepts was how does a democracy turn itself into a dictatorship,'' Lucas told a news conference at Cannes, where his final episode had its world premiere.

''The parallels between what we did in Vietnam and what we're doing in Iraq now are unbelievable.

George Lucus Quoted >CNN<

quote:
Creator George Lucas admits that his tale of a republic succumbing to dictatorship is colored by his observations of the Nixon administration and, more recently, the post-9/11 Bush administration. Fear, his Jedi often say, leads to the Dark Side; public fears, Episodes IIII suggest, can lead to the concentration of power in the hands of politicians and the erosion of democracy into authoritarianism.

Some observers of the politics of Star Wars sharply criticize parts of Lucas's tale. Following the release of "Episode II: Attack of the Clones," the Objectivist Center's Ed Hudgins fired off an op-ed criticizing the film for showing Palpatine and the Sith forming an alliance of convenience with traders (the Trade Federation), bankers (the Banking Clan), unions (the Commerce Guilds), and corporations (the Corporate Alliance).

"That's about as obvious a slap at business as you'll get," Hudgins bristled. "Lucas the liberal sees economic power as a danger, and fails to realize that it is political power, even in the hands of a republican government, that corrupts commerce and society."

I LIKED IT TOO. WHAT YOU SAID WAS TOPS. I LIKED THE NEW MOVIE WHEN GENERAL GRIEVOUS HAD FOUR LIGHTSABERS AND HIS HANDS TWIRLED AND HE LOOKED LIKE AN AEROPLANE BUT HE DIDNT TAKE OFF AND FLY SO THAT MADE ME SAD. BUT THEN HE GOT HIS HANDS CUT OFF BY OBI WON KENOBI WHICH IS TOPS.

phwaarrr, you gotta see it on the BIG screen. A movie like that has to be experienced in a theatre. The start battle sequence is worth the submission fee by itself!

very true, everyone i talked to said the opening flying scene is pretty amazing. I'd much rather watch it on a movie theater screen than a 15" laptop screen.

I've gone to one movie by myself before, and it's not so bad. Just get some popcorn and have a good time.

I'm also looking at going to see it alone. so sad. Oh well.
Apparently, from what I've been told, it's pretty good. I'm looking forward to seeing it one way or another. should be awesome. If I can't get anyone to go with me, then I'll just have to deal with it. You can too.

May the force be with you!

Whether you intentionally swayed the thread in this direction or not, someone else from here would have done the exact same thing had you not done (and not purposely either, just due to the fact that they are thick and unfunny). The thread starter's right, this place is full of fucking idiots. I don't know where he originally posted this thread but he was correct in assuming he would have gotten a better debate whatever forum it may have been.

It was so/so, pretty cheesy.

i agree here is not the place for grown adults to talk about droids, wookies, and 'the force'. If you want to be taken seriously go to a star warz forum. may the horse be with you.
