After listening to this album a good ten times, which is necessary for any mars volta type album to properly enjoy it, i have found out that i am in love with it. not like omghi2u love, but it just works.

the whole album is essentially one song. its all perfectly combined and trasisitoned (think sasha+rock) and is full of different influences, like rock, punk, metal, jazz, salsa, its got everything all in a rocking package.

This album will move into my "introspective" album category, which is where the best most thought provoking inner awesomeness commonly overlooked albums go. i cant get enough of it, and it just flows, the whole thing is like amazing. perfect moments of silence with soft ambient noise, amazing guitars work, sharp clean production (rare in a rock album like this nowadays, not dirty recording at all)

one song is in spanish as well, and i dunno, it just works.

+1 for this album and +2 for the mars volta.

keep on rocking

also check out

De-Loused in the Comatorium

another wicked album.

no, just got this abum its still fairly new, so i wanted to share its greatness.

ive been with them since at the drive in, i dont like sparta tho... mars volta is betta

they sound like a new age pink floyd, imo

Posted by Allied Nations on May-31-2005 18:04:

ud actually be suprised at some of the similarities between this and early floyd, like umma gumma

they've accepted Pink Floyd as one of their major influences. also: Zeppelin.

this album is great. anybody see my Frances the Mute theme in here? lasted about..three weeks. a month.

but alright. i love The Mars Volta.
i did not think De-Loused could be topped and was sort of scared when the tracklist to this came out.
it was originally five tracks, 74 minutes in lenght. the label then forced them to split the 5th track into about 7 variations, but it lasts in total about 32 minutes as a whole.
i was scared, also, when first listening to it. i couldn't get into it for a while. it's an extreme acquired taste.
but once it hits, you realise the complexity of the sound. of the whole project.
you see the concept.
and then de-loused seems like...what ATDI seems to The Mars Volta now. it's a constant maturity between those two guys and their companions. damn.

btw, about half of the album is in spanish. nay, 25-30%.

and they'll be opening or touring with SOAD in the fall/second half of the summer. rumoured to be opening for them both: dredg

also, i'm seeing them in exactly..8 days. in their hometown.
i'm. psyched. as. hell.

I heard them when they opened for red hot chili peppers here last summer. The black dude OD'ed like 3 weeks after the concert.

They do sound good though.
