Help Me To Take A Decision...1000 or 800

i've been saving money enough to buy a pair of cdj-800 and a mixer...but i look at the 1000's and i said...they are so cool...for his extra features and his design...black and with silver touches.

i gotta say it's my first setup...i've never mix anything before...but i want to start to mix from now on...

so...wath are your toughts...

i was in your position. tried both of them and went ahead with the best. i like how the 1000 feels... feels more solid, looks like it will last longer, and the platter is heavier.

also noticed that theres no loop in adjust. and can some one talk about the pitch increments? i know its been covered.

frankly when i looked at the demos, i saw that the 1000 looked great, while the 800 was already showing signs of wear. it looks really cheaply made, and the buttons were all faded.

CDJ-800 - pitch adjustments in .05 increments, 10% and 100% pitch modes

CDJ-1000 - pitch adjustments in .02 increments in 6% mode, and has more pitch modes (I can't recall all of them right now, but there's the 6%, 10%, and Wide, and something in between).

I must say that while I like my 1000's, they still feel cheap to me. They are light and ALL plastic (except the bottom). The Denon S5000's are at least all metal... not that it should make a difference... plastics are certainly very good these days... but for $1000 I expected the things to have the feel of a Tech 1200.

agreed
i am used to techs and a&h... i dont see how pio gets away with making cheap stuff. even their djm feels and sounds cheap to me. owell thats not the point of this thread however

I actually prefer the jog wheel of CDJ-800. It travels more freely then CDJ-1000's. I also don't really need the hot cues and pitch accuracy is accurate enough on 800s. CDJ-800 also has a Quick Return freature which CDJ-1000 doesn't have (not that I really use it anyway).

wow... you'd die if you had to use my behringer mixer

Maybe the above negates my opinion, but the 8 and 1000 aren't THAT much different. If your budget allows you to get the 1000s, then by all means, dish it out, they're worth every penny. If you have a sick feeling in your stomach paying for them, then go for the 8s.

i would suggest denon cd players anyways.

very nice Jade I'd go to Guitar Center. They have pretty much everything, the people kick serious ass, plus Satellite Records is one of the most ghetto record shops i've ever seen when it comes to vinyl, much less gear.

haha just a quick search on google, i only knew of satellite... and gc ofcorse.

just for your info, they quoted me 890 here in jackson, ms.... you can take that percentage and try to bargain with them for an 800....brings the price down to 464.35 with the same markdown. definitly try for something less than 500

I purchased a cdj800 about 4 months ago. Was very impressed with it to begin with, but then recently i had the opportuntity to have a go on cdj1000. I couldn't believe the difference in the platter feel between the two. In my opinion the platter on the 800 is too loose and theres more feel in the 1000's platter, therefore more control.

If i was in your position, i would save up that bit longer for the longer for the 1000's, I wish hadda done the same.

Very Apreciated Ya'll

I'll go for the 800's for now and maybe in a couple months hopefully i'll get the 1000's

btw...the mixer i choose is a pioneer DJM-300s...and Technics headphones.

i'll post the pic of all 'em soon.

if you think youre gonna get the 1000s anyway, why dont you jsut save up and get the 1000s, and then use the money that you would have wasted on the upgrade to get a better mixer. a pair of 800s and then 1000s is like throwing away 950 dollars.

Posted by Tangil on Jun-06-2005 06:02:

why not get one of each?

also, get a djm600!
