Copa Libertadores 2005

The SouthAmerican Champions League started its quarterfinals this week.
And the game that just finished will make a Chivas fan like ierxium and any other Boca Jr. hating fan like myself proud. Chivas destroyed them 4-0!!

1st legs
Chivas 4 - Boca Jr. 0
Bansfield 1 - River Plate 1
Atl. Paranaense 3 - Santos 2
Sao Paulo 4 - Tigres 0

River should be able to win at home the next game and it looks like Boca and Tigres are fucked

It was a great night. Two great goals by Chivas. The first by Juan Pablo Alfaro and the second by "Bofo" Bautista. The curious thing here is I predicted this score when I was in Mexico last week. My friends didn't believe me. They probably thought I wasn't serious since I had already taken 8 beers. Proved them wrong!

Anyway, great match from a great team.

EDIT: Awesome performance by Jesus Corona. He was called to play since Talavera is injured and Sanchez is with the national team. I still think he's a good goalie even though America scored 6 against Tecos in the final. America most likely bought the game. But that's another story.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-04-2005 04:19:

haha thats awesome dude
funny thing is Chivas almost coudve won at least 7-0.And man those last 2 goals were so awesome.Heres hoping nothing strange happens in la Bombonera

about the Mexican final, I didnt see it but how in the hell a championship game can finish 6-3 is really wierd to me lol

and that sao Paolo goalie is a bad ass in free kicks, scoring 2 of them.

next games will be on June 15 and 16

Well it seems Lavolpe wants to use some of Chivas' players for Copa Confederaciones. They are vital to both the national team and the club. I don't know what will happen. What I like is the attitude of the players. They're willing to play with either team. They're not like Blanco!

Hopefully the players will play la copa libertadores. Lavolpe has more players that he can choose and that can play as good. But Sanchez is hard to replace. That's a fact.

I have a scary feeling Chivas might be looking at the next game as " we're already up 4-0 its all good, let them play for our country"
Their first game is vs japan, Mexico can beat em with non chivas players easily.

yeah I dont like people like Blanco who turn their back on their country like that.Asprilla did it to us a couple of times.Ronaldo is doing it to but he s already proven himself in the past, Brazil is already in the World Cup, and theres no need for him in the confed cup.Blanco on the otherhand does not apply to either of those.

Boca Juniors and Tigres is in deep shit after loosing 4-0 and if the players can't play because of the Confed. Cup it's going to be even harder.

So the problem was solved. Three players for the national team and three for the club. Sanchez, Bravo and Medina to the national team and Morales, Salcido and Corona to the club. I think that's right. I'm not sure about Medina, Salcido and Bravo though. I should play closer attention next time.

Chivas shouldn't have problems with Boca next game. What they can do is just score a goal as visitors. Boca can't score six. They won't even score four. But then again, this is soccer. Nothing is certain.

true
but this is the Bombonera....scary place, anything happens there. The fact that Caldas was able to win the title playing there was awesome but rare.
Hope the best for Chivas
by the way Grafite of Sao Paolo is gone for 6 months, so their pretty much screwed for next round, at least their scoring is anyways

God I keep stalking this thread. River better come back and beat Banfield. Should be no problem because we are home next leg??? I think

yeah no prob
Banfield, or as people call them in Argentina B'anfield (meaning B Team haha)has been overachieving, River is way to strong at home. The game at Banfield was rainy and banfield played a little dirty, got away with it cause they were home.

Posted by sensorium on Jun-10-2005 20:53:

Ugh, they changed their minds. Sanchez and Salcido with the national team. Ramon Morales and Omar Bravo stay with Chivas.

Now, Jesus Corona, the goalie from Tecos, and Medina will join the national team after the game with Boca.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-14-2005 00:31:

ok is up with Blatter

FRANKFURT, Germany (AP) -- FIFA president Sepp Blatter threatened to suspend three Mexican players if they don't show up for the Confederations Cup.

Midfielders Alberto Medina and Ramon Morales and forward Omar Bravo, who all play for Guadalajara's Chivas, are on the roster for Mexico, which opens against Japan in Hanover on Thursday. But the club wants them released to play in the quarterfinals of the Copa Libertadores, South America's club championship.

``Their players cannot be replaced,'' Blatter said Monday. ``These players will have to show up on the pitch. If they do not they will be suspended from playing for their club.''

http://espndeportes.espn.go.com/story?id=335689

now he wants all of them to play in the confed
fuck, now itll be way easier for Boca

Posted by sensorium on Jun-14-2005 01:22:

That sucks. I bet he doesn't even know the players. He has no business in this. Damn him!

Sucks for Chivas, really. Even if they win, which they will, they need the players for the next round.

Posted by sensorium on Jun-15-2005 01:12:

Half time is over. The score hasn't moved. 30 minutes more and we're on the semis. Palermo wants to fight though. Damn crazy guy.

Posted by Eddie N MIAMI on Jun-15-2005 02:45:

ok this is why I freakin hate Boca.No Class whatsover.Sore Losers.

ok for those who didnt see this got pretty bad

Schavi(resident Boca asshole #1) went and punched el Bofo of Chivas on purpose when fighting for a header. Then some fighting words continued (Boca playders were trying to pick a fight with any Chivas player)most notably resident Boca asshole #2 Martin Palermo (god i hate that guy.Palermo was chasing around el Bofo tryin to pick a fight but el Bofo kept ignoring him.So finally Palermo is ejected with of course aplause from the Boca fans who could care less if their players are acting like idiots, they just look at the color.

Ok so it got worse. While they were taking el Bofo off the field(with everything being thrown at him from the stands)Some idiot Boca fan jumps out of the crowd and goes and punches el Bofo. The guy manages to escapes the cops and goes back into the crowd. The scene was wild, Boca fans hanging on the gates like monkeys, guys trying to push the window and gate screens down.

heres the funny part
the ref actually wanted to play the remaining 11 minutes
The Chivas goalie trys to kick off to start the game and immdiatly the fans throw shit at him,lol
Game Over.
The player stayed in the middle of the field for a long while.

ok so Boca should be suspended for next years Libertadores. And they showed what Ive always said abpout Boca, Its not only the fans but also the players who are just complete ASSHOLES

last year when they lost the title to Once Caldas, they didnt even want to go out to get the silver medal. And today this, SORE fuckn ahole LOSERS

an embarrasment that I hope the rest of the world sees what the "Great Boca" really are
I kinda like that they lost this way, good riddance Boca lol

Posted by sensorium on Jun-15-2005 02:54:

Dude you forgot a couple of things. Benitez, Boca's coach, spits on Bofo's face. And then one of the guys that picks the balls kicks him from behind after the puch from the fan. Sad scenery. Shouldn't happen.

They're a tough crowd. Many teams fold but Chivas didn't. My respect to them.
