Kimball Collins Style
Hey Guys, I was wondering if kimball collins still has that "uplifting" style he had on he generation trance 2000.
I might go check him out this weekend and in need of
some good trance.
has anybody heard him spin recently?
I can tell you he NO LONGER has that uplifting sound.
He moved away from it in early 2001.
All he plays now is progressive.
I personally was very disappointed when I saw him live AND when I bought his new cd "music is life".
I like progressive and i still think his new cd sucked! Blah!
i loved generation trance 2000....it was a great cd...
i couldn't believe it when i heard he moved to progressive, that is so stupid!!! Argh!!!!!! oh well...at least cortsen and others are around makin' tight ass sounds...

generation trance 2000 was a great CD
almost as good as Trancematch from system f and avb.
hearing this, i will not goto nations tonite to check out kimball collins. I've heard dave ralph way too many times also and i really don't dig his style no more.
Maybe if scott henry was there.

Micro, X-dream, Pleasurehead.. and??

He has definately turned progressive. Despite what all friends told me about him, I still went to go see him last week at a club. What a big disappointment.
It was too progressive and dark for my liking. *shivers* I should of left early, but I stayed til almost then end of his set just to catch any uplifting moments, but I didn't.
I agree. Generation Trance 2000 was pretty good. Pretty melodic compared to what he has turned to now.

Yeah,
Well, everyone on this board stamps "progressive" on anything that isn't riduculously high-energy, and calls it crap. Perhaps you all should invest in an attention span.
Hence, I never post anymore, no one ever has anything interesting to say.

Actually, Kimball Collins started off spinning house in 1986. He used to DJ At a club called Oz, and was one of the pioneers of the scene in Orlando. That scene moved to breaks where guys like DJ Icey got their fame, by then Kimball Collins was playing Progressive House (and gaining fame for it), and by the time breaks no longer were "cool" (around 1995), he was called in to play at the former home of breaks, a club called Firestone that used to be an actual firestone garage. And what was he playing....Progressive House.
I don't know when he started doing trance, I only know this bit about Kimball Collins. Peace.
respect
respect everyone's music prferences.
if someone likes uplifting style and prefers it over progressive house/trance.. then let them.
just because we like electronic music, doesn't mean we have to like every single genre in that category.
i personally like sasha, tall paul, scott henry.. but i would PREFER the uplifting style if i was gonna goto a party. i might like 1 thing, you might like another thing.
thats why music is so diffferent for DIFFERENT people.
no need to flame genre's becuz noone is flaming progressive.
Seen him 3 times, but now that hes progressive I probably wont. I cant believe he changed and went with the rest of the bandwagon...
