Tweak - Two Lizards 160kbs (Breaks?)
I have a Dj cousin from Fort Lauderdale who has gotten me addicted to trance! For the last 1-2 years I've played with Fruity Loops making rap beats for my friends to freestyle on but I've recently discovered that Techno/Trance production is way more fun. I finished my first trance song yesterday titled " Two Lizards" (Because it reminds me of old school Double Dragon) that I am trying to get a little feedback on, any criticism of it would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Not sure about that video game sound at the start. It comes on too loud. I'm a big believer that you should start a track with a perc or a pas style fx, not a melody.
That sample is way louder than the rest though and it seems to dominate the rest of the track. Gets pretty annoying after a while. I think it would work a lot better if you dropped it a few octaves and used it as a bassline and maybe bring it up only for a few bars here and there.
The rest of the synth sounds are pretty dorwned out, but I'd say you need to spend more time programming your synths, they just dont compliment each other atm.
The sound quality is quite clear and crisp though, which is good.
I wouldnt really class this as hard trance either, more like breaks.

Hye,
Definately breaks mate, if you wanna hear some more of breaks sounds theres productions by me (Krimes) and Fresh/Getz on the forum if you want a better idea
Not keen on the videogamey sound at the intro to be honest either and it's definately a bit on the loud side.
It all sounds a bit basic to me, doesnt really go anywhere, try adding some more fx into it, maybe tweak with the video game sound a bit. I like the breaks you've got there, nice and solid. It's not a bad attempt for a beginner at breaks by no means though, getting better will come with time, just need to vary your sounds more and check your volume levels so nothing is too loud. The vocal sample at the end doesnt really fit with the track, 'we like techno too' in a breaks track
Haven't meant to be harsh with my review there but it may help you with you future productions.
Keep it going, good luck
Thanks for the feedback! The "We like techno to" part is kind of a joke for a friend (Long story). I guess I just have a weird ear or something because I like that video game sound though.
