Dumonde separates with the scene.

-Taken from Trance nu-

Sad to hear this. As much as some of their 'newer' works don't grab me, their older stuff def. (pre 2002-2003)did rock and it's a shame to lose one of the major players out there albeit with their new less is sometimes more approach! Hope it works out well for them.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
Just to let you know, we are separating a bit from the global dance scene and will release less music under our aliases DuMonde or JamX & De Leon and also less music on F8T Recordings and AccessTunes.

The basic reason is the shrinking market and the weak support from the people which has lead to the situation, where we are now more concentrating on other music productions for other people and also more music on demand productions for big industry companies. But still you can expect some selective DuMonde releases and DJ appearances from us during the next months, we just dont do that much anymore, because of see above.

Anyway, trance music will always be our love and we hope it will grow again during the next years. And hopefully the whole music industry will re-vitalize soon and become what it was 5 years ago. But thats not in our hands but in yours, because its you who will decide how to support the music you love.

yeah it's a bit of a shame but like you said, they started to suck ballz circa end of 2002 anyways so not as much of a shame as it could have been =).

old news

well for those that read the music discussion

yeah it certainly is a shame. Dumonde are one of the all time best trance acts in my opinion. I think that they were just never promoted well enough. I saw Dumonde when they came to Hard Kandy in Melbourne a year ago, but they have always been missing from the big raves. Question is, why havn't they been included in these big events (e.g. Two Tribes, GK, Summadayze, etc), instead of only being included in the small ones.

Yeah heard this a few weeks back.

I've got some great memories of Dumonde, so it'll be sad that we wont see them round anymore.

Yep, its a real kick in the guts cos I had every intention to see them in Brisbane for NYE but couldn't. As a result I was definitely gonna see them next time............

sounds like they are having a cry like airwave did a couple of years ago

Posted by gilmista on Jun-14-2005 15:03:

why dont they just try and diversify their music to appeal to new tastes ?

Posted by tonydanza on Jun-15-2005 00:19:

because they might actually enjoy playing/producing the music that they do ..

Posted by gilmista on Jun-15-2005 06:46:

yeah well they can print trademark sounds onto new productions, but music tastes change over time and good producers will accomodate that by leading the way and being at the forefront of the genre.

you can be at the forefront of my nutsaq

not to seem rude dude, but you can only qualify this kind of statement if you are actively producing yourself. REmember, they are a duo who usually (back a few years ago) set trends and not follow them.

ahhhh forget i said anything

Posted by jizza on Jun-16-2005 03:17:

i see where you're comin from gil. but i dont think an artist should compromise their style just cos of trends. saying that, they could just adapt and still stay true to what they know and love but the hard thing is that their bread and butter is not as easily adaptable... what avenues do they have? prog-trance? hard-electro-trance?

thats exactly what i meant dude.. diversify in their own genre. Obviously dumonde arent going to start producing funky electro house because some trends are moving there, but if they can innovate on the hard style that they are good at then they will re-catch the attention of all or most of their past followers. Naturally any style after being hammered out for so long will need to be refreshed (* do not look at paul van dyk for support to this statement).

all good amigo

definately a valid point gil

it can be a breath of fresh air when artists diversify a bit, but a lot are scared to as a slight change in style might lose some of their fans..
