Sleep deprivation

Does it make you see things?
Im sure i keep catching glimpses of weird things moving
Gotta stay up all night for tomorrow's presentation's sakes, never been so scared in my life

have you been taking magic mushrooms???!

Posted by butterfly on Jun-08-2005 23:21:

yes it can. i used to see things when i drove home too tired. i dont do that anymore.

Posted by Aquarian on Jun-08-2005 23:23:

Yep, that's normal. Your eyes always see incomplete things and your brain tries to complement with the most likely object. When you're very tired, you brain does this less efficiently and comes up with strange solutions. Once I was at a party and hadn't slept in three days. There was a sofa there and a guy put his coat on it. Everytime I turned my head and looked at it, for a split second, I saw it as a person staring at me.

Is making stupid threads a side effect of sleep deprivation?

Nah they seem to happen regardless

Posted by zidumare on Jun-09-2005 01:11:

yeah ive gotten scared of my own shadows before b/c of sleep deprivation

Posted by apostrophe on Jun-09-2005 01:22:

I had a long stretch of sleeplessness over the last couple weeks over classes/finals - about 4 nights up. Then at the end, I tried to play a game of chess with my roomate. Not only did I suck terribly, but unless I looked veerrryy closely at them, (they were the engraved stone pieces), they were making faces at me .. and kinda 'floaty.'

Or maybe I was high.

the only hallucinations ive ever seen when im sleep deprived is lights have halo's around them, things get fuzzy, and sometimes ive seen weird shit like i was sitting one time in a kitchen, just sitting there, and i look out into a darkened living room, and then back, and in the corner of my eye, i thought i saw a dark figure move past the opening to the kitchen.

this was me getting high in college in the states. im back in shanghai now..working for da summah. if you get high in china, it's kinda like getting high anywhere else. you experience pleasent sensations, perhaps elevated moods, followed by a period often refered to as "burnt out."

i'm not chinese, born in oregon, but i moved to china when i was 3, and didn't come back until two years ago for college..

yeh im a commie. I did have the option of joining the Communist party though back in 1995 or something, but I declined.

I'm a westerner, white, caucasian...yeh.

So basically, I can't really get "caught." the Police here know what we're up to if we're gettin high, or dealing drugs, and the PSB (basically Chinese FBI) takes pictures of us drinking in the courtyards, smoking J's, sorting pills, but really they don't do much about it unless we're seriously huge drug dealers...which...I'm not. Police will just shake their head if they see you walkin round fucked up or whatever, and if they catch you with pills, or hash, or coke, or k, they could put you away for it, but generally they won't. you've gotta be doing some stupid flambouant shit with like a have kilo of coke to get busted here if you're white. I love it here.

and yeah. Wo hui shou zhong wen. (I can speak Chinese).

edit: for instance, this past weekend i was high as a muthafucka off some great pills and i was standing outside Club DKD having a cigarette, and the guard for the street was talking to me and I told him i was seein two of him, and he laughed and shook his finger at me.

far from that. I do live in Shanghai though, city of 19 million people, and a pretty damn rich city too. Very western in many regards. There are still smaller cities that are more stereotypically "Chinese..."

Shanghai Skyline:

Our parties:

Ok well the party pics are a little lacking, but I had to find ones that are accessible outside China. China's ISP's are ghey.

I've never been censored...but officially looking at porn is illegal here, BBC, CNN, Washington Post, etc have all been blocked at one time or another due to political issues...All emails going in and out are read, so if there's something exposing something the Gov doesn't want, they will probably disallow the email. depending on the sevarity, they'll turn off your internet, or in extreme cases jail? They keep a pretty tight leash on what's available for public viewing.

oh yeah..geocities, and angelfire are blocked too. Too much free speak
