2004 Grammy Award Nominee Sasha returns with the highly anticipated follow-up to the hottest and most critically acclaimed electronic music album of 2004: Involver. To be clear, the most exciting thing about this release is that this is not "Involver 2", the Involver concept is Sasha finding the space between artist, producer, and DJ. Fundacion on the other hand, is a whole new take on DJing. He's given up the turntables and CD players in exchange for a custom designed mixing setup that uses the Ableton "Live" software and a one of a kind controller that Sasha has dubbed "MAVEN" to create a never before heard kind of mixing.

To showcase this new technology and its sonic capablities, Sasha launched a bi-coastal residency (at New York's Crobar and Los Angeles's Avalon) with the closing party in New York being the launch party for the fruition of the entire endeavor: the Fundacion mix CD.

I didn't see a topic for this. The release is set for June 21st 2005. This is a GREAT CD and I say to pick it up asap. Its amazing what he does in this mix.. I really enjoyed every last minute of it!

apart from Zabiela's Utilities this could be the best tracklist of the year I can't wait to hear how Sasha has managed to blend these tracks together

The mix from MANDY - JAH into Behind The Wheel is so classy... its awesome!

I definitely love the album even though many don't. I can see the distress though seeing as this album is very electro when compared with other releases, namely, Airdrawndagger and Involver. I think the track that really defines the tempo of this album, and its electro feel is the second to last track, Goldfrapp - Strict Machine (We Are Glitter mix). Everything from the hard guitar riff and the retro vocal part makes an electro track.

I just like this album as a change of pace from much of the prog. Dare I say he has started a prog/electro/house sub-genre (even though there's 516874654 genres at this point and everyone is sick of it already). Admittedly, I don't think the whole idea of getting rid of vinyl is particularly nice. Sure, the MAVEN concept is decent enough, and Abelton Live is spectacular software no doubt. But pretty soon it will make it so that anyone can make tracks and not have much talent at all. I still have total respect to those who can put out a nice, solid, vinyl mix with funtioning loops (rather than pressing the "loop" button on a cdj).

Anyways, back to this album... the album starts off with a lot of those "plinky-plonky" sounds that has pretty much defined the background sound of Sasha ablums. He still manages to keep the airy sound, just with more guitar riffs and a bit more vocals than normal as that seems to be the fad in all EDM right now, the use/overuse of vocals. The album picks up after the Holden & Thompson mixes and gets more club-worthy. All of this culminating in that Goldfrapp track which just pounds into the speakers with the violent guitar power chords. (I cannot think of a time I would be talking about "violent guitar power chords" in reference to a Sasha album, much less an EDM album).

I definitely thouroughly enjoyed this luke-warmly received release here by Sasha. Not his best, and after 10 listens I can still say I enjoyed Involver more. But this album is an experience in its own right.

7.5/10

Definitely has room for improvement, but I would pick this up. Provides a whole new Sasha experience.

Well im basically tired of seeing every damn release here
10/10
9/10 OMFG BESt Ch00n evar!!1! omg i die ASOT...

Most people only use 7/10-10/10 on here...

anything above like 8, should be concidered like really good. I think the only cd this year that I would give that too would Be Pole Folder's cd. Which was extreamly creative, Ive never heard anything else like it. It was produced really well. As is the vinyl release of salvation...

I listened to the cd 3-4 times... Wasn't really feeling it.

5. Kosmas Epsilon Innocent Thoughts (Stel Remix)
11. M.A.N.D.Y. Jah
12. Playgroup Behind The Wheel (DJ-Kicks Electroca$h Mix)
17. Goldfrapp Strict Machine (We Are Glitter Mix)

Are not bad at all but the rest of the cd was just blah.

I mean I like Involver much more then this. You gotta compair this to something like Communicate or his NE stuff. Obviousely the style is different, but the feeling just isnt there.... It isnt mindblowing imo. Sounds just like another Howells cd to me. And playing Come to Me B2B is just god aweful. I swear take holden off the track name and it wouldn't be much, just as I think Sasha's name on the cover of the cd makes a huge difference. Honestly i fell to sleep with this cd on once or twice. Sasha has lost it.

I enjoyed Diggweeds Fabric much more then this one. I just feel that this cd is worse then 1/2 of the cds i have listened to recently. Go check out Balance 007 or something...

it's not bad although it's certainly not as good as involver, airdrawndagger, etc

i'd give it a 7.5/10

i have to say that the fundacion cd does little justice to how amazing the fundacion nyc parties were, particularly the closing party and the night with zabs.

see taking some time to write this was actually a good thing cauze now I know what to expect, this is actually a good review

btw Digweed's Fabric CD is one of my all time favorite and the Pole Folder CD is a masterpiece!!

thanks for the review, I will still check it out because of some tracks in there I would like to hear, and btw sticking Holden's track twice in there seems to be a waste but we'll see

I dunno, I really like the cd. But I like the new sound Sasha is carrying. I think its a great idea.. yes the cd opens up slow, but its progressive. The mixing of each track is awesome.. its like he adds another layer to each track via the song before it. It makes for a very well blended album, and I think it rocks. Just my $.02 and honestly, a couple of you say you LIKED airdrawndagger? jesus christ.. wtf? lol

Posted by TheVrk on Jun-10-2005 21:28:

REALLY looking forward to hearing this from a true master

Easily beats any Armin, Ferry or Tiesto artist album both in terms of quality and originality...

Get a clue. Sasha is a great DJ, but the likes of Felix Da Housecat and Ladytron did the whole electro-house thing loooong time before Sasha made it the 'it' genre.
