Aquapulse - Astral Sign [Uplifting/Anjuna style] 192kbps DDL

I like this kick in this one

http://www.expure.com/music/aquapul...riginal_mix.mp3

The main melody in this tune fell into place far to easily which means either:

a) I'm better at this than I thought.

or

b) I've subconciously copied someone else.

I'm going with b) so if it sounds familiar I'd love to know where I got the idea from!

I know it's not very original but I reckon it's catchy and I'm a bit of a perfectionist so I'm wondering whether to carry on and finish it off or scrap it and start again with something different.

What do you reckon?

That bad eh!

Time to try something different I think...

No its not bad at all man!
I could imagine this on a trance cd !
1:37 nice start of the break
verrry angelic pads but I like!
takes a bit long before the melody comes in.. in my opinion add some fx maybe ?
3:29 presssure
3:41.. kicks in a little unsuspected
maybe you shouldnt do that
nice synths although the mainlead sounds a bit cheesy but it fits the track good here.

Thanks for the comments! I've kinda reviewed yours in return

I'm going to make the melody come in a bit earlier, where the first arp ends in the breakdown and the sine is, I'll start it there so the filter opens alongside the sine.

Yeah, the main lead is a generic Supersaw type affair, nothing too new.

I've been away from producing for a few years so I'm putting together stuff as practice while I try and develop a better style, something a bit harder but still with melody.

the melody does sound startinly familiar, can't think the name tho..

Pretty good, in my opinion. I guess one main thing I'd change would be to make it a little bit more complex. Maybe have a key shift, or a variation in the melody, or even a counter-melody to really make things complicated. Good luck!

nice everythings: percs, bass drum, bass...

1.43 awesome atmosphere in the break. The pads are beautiful.
4.00 Generic synths. Energetic & Uplifting.

It is a simple tune & it may have been done before, though I havent heard it before. It is unique to me & has a good combination of sounds.

You should continue this. I would definitly like to hear the final product.

Xeno.

Cool intro, I like your bassline. the stab sounds a bit weird in the break like there is some sort of detune on it, but it's not really messing up your break though.I like your pads, just the main lead is not really my taste. but overall it's very nice man.

Not a bad effort.

The kick lacks some punch and the track in general is a bit quiet. Nice synth programming on the arpeggiated synth at the start. Feels really solid.

The pads could be eq'ed a bit higher imo. The feel very solid at the moment and could be a bit more airy with the right mastering.

Breakdown is a tad on the longish side and is pretty boring.

Melody comes on too strong and the kicks leading up to it feel kinda cheesy. Try for a longer more complex kick roll if your going to do one. If you bring the melody in for one bar and then drop everything else out for like half or quarter of a bar, then I think it might have a better effect.

The melody doesnt do all that much for me. It kinda feels a bit out of place. Not sure why that is. It needs something more. Try some subtle variation of notes so that it becomes a 32 bar or atleast 16 bar melody, sounds like it resolves after 8 bars at the moment, which feels a bit short right now.

5.02 I really dig on this synth you bring in here. Why dont you have this running under the main melody? I think that would sound great.

Anyway, nice tune... it has a lot of promise, it just needs some more polish.
