Dunno Brit needs help!

hello there my canadian cousins,

i'm on a bit of a random search here and didn't know where to start, so you'll have to excuse me for posting on a trance site when my request isn't about trance. however, after doing a search this was the best place i could come up with, and hey, it won't hurt to ask!

basically, i'm after a mix by ritchie hawtin that he did at kool haus circa '95, and was wondering if any of you guys know of anywhere i might get such a mix? basically, around about '95 (i think - these years sort of blend into one another, with the '90s being as crazy as they were!), a friend of one of my friends (who she's no longer in contact with, typically!) came over to visit her from canada and she gave me a couple of tapes by ritchie hawtin, one of which simply said on the side kool ass (although, from the searches i've done i can only presume she meant kool haus?). there was a track on there that i tried to id at the time, with no success. anyway, a few weeks back while back at the parents house i unearthed this little treasure of a tape, but was totally gutted to find that being so old (and not looked after properly!) it no longer had any audible music on it. basically, i'm still mad for id'ing this track after so many years, so am trying to find out of any places where i can get ritchie hawtin mixes from, from around this time. not having heard the track for so long, the only description i can give is that it was similar to 'krakpot' by the great man himself, but from what i remember it was a tad harder/heavier/crazier (i think! i'm not very good at this am i?!?!).

is there anybody out there who could help this poor unfortunate brit whose only immediate goal in life is to be reunited with this fantastic track???! again, apologies for posting on this trance site, but this seems like a good place to start, with this particular board being dedicated to the toronto area!

cheers

i never knew that such a mix even existed.. but to help aid in ur search , the 'koolhaus' venue didn't exist till about 2000/2001, prior to that, it was known as the 'warehouse', so there's a good chance that the set you're looking for was recorded in a totally different venue..

Sad

aaaahhhhhhhh maaaaaaaaaaaaan! thanks anyway, mate - the process of elimination has begun! ok then, so my search continues. it's obviously not kool haus then, she must've just thought the mix was a kool ass mix after all! don't s'pose you (or anyone else out there reading this!), knows where i can get any ritchie hawtin mixes from, from around that time, though do you? or even know possible track titles i could try??? or people i could contact??? i know this is probably the longest shot ever known to man, but i gotta keep going, gotta keep searching...

This isn't a longshot at all. Someone here will know it.

The only other thing I can think of is wasn't he going under the guise Plastikman at the time? Maybe the set is floating around under that pseudonym?

Wink

cheers! yeah, had thought about that but was keeping my fingers and toes crossed in the hope that it was just as ritchie hawtin, thus halfing the avenues i needed to search down! ok, mr hawtin or plastikman anyone...???

try asking in the techno room on tribe.ca

A big party richie played at back in 95 was transcendance. Maybe that will help you

And if the tune was nothing but rolling drum kicks then you may be looking for spastik by plastikman (which was huge back in 95)

Posted by StereoPrincess on Jun-11-2005 19:28:

there are a lot of richie hawtin fans here. someone will be able to help you.

and also try the tribe.ca board except you can't log on there that easily.

yeah, saw it thanks - meant to say thanks to jayx1 too! the track's deffo not spastik. maybe i'm being a bit misleading saying it's like krakpot...!?! man, i wish i had telepathic powers so i could just zap a sample from my crazed mind onto the message board for you guys to listen to!

Posted by Aaron Joseph on Jun-12-2005 15:34:

^^^ this guy is hardcore

Posted by nailyclops on Jun-12-2005 15:37:

ok, to try (!!!) and give you more of a clue, it's not the drum bits that remind me of of it, but wow-wow-wow-wow bit... erm, if you get what i mean???! i'm not very good with the old terminology am i?! i'm on about the acidy type sound/tune bit over the top of drums. i should maybe think about going into business doing quizzes on track ids, "name that track in..." but then again, maybe not...

Posted by jon jon on Jun-13-2005 18:03:
