Calgary Ages
What are the average age groups like at most Calgary raves/massives?
Is it more of a younger crowd? A good mix? Older?
11teen,12teen
never been but from pics ive seen, about 12-16, then u have your 17.18 with their friends and the 20 year olds who still live at home with their parents.
Wow. That young?
Really? What do all the 20+ ravers in Calgary do for Canada Day partying?
there are lots of them there, but they are saturated with tonnes of youngins,
if its your scene then definatley go and enjoy the music and ravers.
if not, hit a bar or club
I'd say most our high school age and early twenties with a sprinkling of enthusiasts representing alternate demographics. On occassion, I'm braved the sea of teenage PLUR to see acts that I really enjoy and I'm 30. Unfortunately, on most weekend nights, the only trance you'll find is at afterhours or smaller venues with local DJs. Ferry Corsten is here on the 29th and Max Graham on the 30th. Both at night clubs. Most people wait out for those type of events.

Awww u guys get Maxipad?? Hope they bring him here again soon
... and LCG rock!!! Saw them when they stopped by here a few months back. Very very sexxay .. You Got To go!
yeah, lot's of young teens at the raves, max bell comes to mind as the worst. Something just doesn't look right when kids that young look that messed up. I am 21 and I know a bunch of people around my age who go to raves, so there are some older people there.
As mentioned above, the best place to go if you want to avoid the young teenagers,is too the club. Then you just get people of age who are all fucked up, but it's a good time.
Oh yeah, and I think there is another two dj's coming to Tantra in early July, James Zabiela and someone else. I think it is during stampede, stampede shows are always fun because they are usually nice and busy!
calgary has a thriving electronic club scene, a few good promising nights have opened in the past year and with support can only go up from here
we have tonnes of kickass local talent that more often than not, play at a level comparable with the world's best and in some cases surpass our jetsetting counterparts
you can go to a number of clubs almost any night of the week and find the flavour you crave, be it progressive, trance, house or even the harder stuff
support your local dj

If you go to the right places on the right night
sure it's been down for a few years but i've seen an upswing lately all we need to do is fan the flames and breathe life into it
When I was living in Calgary March 2004-August2004
I couldn't find any place that played EDM, and I searched really hard.
Does Calgary have any afterhours? if so,what are the names of the clubs?
Now I see that you guys are getting some big names, so I agree that
EDM is on the rise. It's about time!
I came from montreal and now I am back, honestly I think that Montreal is the capital for EDM and the scene.
I hope Calgary will keep moving forward.
Well obviously you can't compare the scene out west with T.O. or Montreal, but it is a healthy one. The fact that DJs bother to stop here en route to a bigger city means that the scene isn't entirely non existant.
I do know that there's the Warehouse in Calgary -- this is something that Vancouver does not have:
Warehouse Nightclub
... and Sandra Collins!!!
Hope she will make a trip here soon.
I can appreciate Tony's super positive outlook be it the truth or not. He and the Bassline DJ's are working hard. They've got it right though...
!!! Locals Rule !!!
Pretty hard to believe that Piano444 couldn't find any Electronica in the whole city from March to Aug 04. I can name probaby 5 venues right off the top of my head that played electronica every single week on various nights, (one I played at every Sat) not to mention the afterhours, the "superstar" club events and raves... be honest, you didnt even look did you ??

sure, i may be looking at this super-positive but if we just give up on it it will simply fade away and there will be nothing
it's better to fight and try make something than just sit around and whine about it
i'm a firm believer in the fact that you can sell almost anything to anyone, it's all in how you package and market it
If everyone was as positive as Tony is the scene would be a better place and much busier. Keep it up Tony, fight the good fight and dont give up!
(I hear hes a pretty ok DJ too)
!!! Locals Still Rule !!!
