losing $$$ on tha streetz
So during my second week out here in New York City, I was walking with my roomate down one of the busy streets near chinatown and ran across a few street hustlers. These guys tricked ppl into playing that one seducing game, you know, where they have 3 small bottle caps with a red ball in one of 'em - then they shuffle the bastards and you gotta guess which one the ball is in. Well needless to say, I got lured and within the next 2 minutes (literally) I was $80 short ... FAWK!!! How the hell do they pull shit like that? The thing is after the guy shuffled the caps, he purposely let the ball slip out of one of em so that it appeared to me that I knew where it would be 100%. So I hand him money and point to that very cap, lift it, and it's GONE. i was speechless, felt like shit the rest of the day.
there's your lesson so you don't do stupid things like me, DO NOT PLAY YOUR MONEY WITH STREET MAGICIANS.
Stan.
I don't 100% know how it works but I'm guessing that all three of the 'caps' have balls in them and they decide which ones they want to apply pressure to so that the ball will stay up in the top of it, and then they let whichever one they want fall out so it's basically impossible for you to win.

I and while you try and follow the mugs an accomplice empty your pockets...
You got grifted, chummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmP!
Homer: Whoa, careful now. These are dangerous streets for us upper-lower-middle class types, so avoid eye contact, watch your pocketbook, and suspect everyone.
Snake: Three-Card Monte.
Homer: Woo hoo! Easy money! [runs over]
Marge: Homer, these games are fixed.
Homer: Then how come that guy's winning?
Man: [looks and sounds like Snake] Whoa, I, like, totally won again.
Snake: Way to go, bro!
Marge cautions Homer, "He looks and acts just like the dealer. I think
they're related, or at least in cahoots."
Snake: Just pick the red card, it's totally not hard.
[shuffles them a bit]
Homer: Twenty on this one, my good man. [puts a $20 dows]
Snake: [flips it] Sorry, my good man: black.
[Marge turns the other two cards over; they're both black]
Marge: Homer, he cheated you!
[spectators grumble angrily]
Snake: Surely you don't blame _me_!
Marge: It's people like _you_ who are ruining our downtown promenades and piazzas. How dare you prey on the greedy and stupid like this!
Please don't tell me you quoted that by heart.
Instead of choosing the one where the ball is... choose the 2 where the ball isn't.
