now see...this is what's wrong with trance these days...and this is why i give it so much shit.

look at that. all they are doing is taking the releases and mixing them in sequential order of their release. the songs are so cookie cutter that is doesn't even matter the order you mix them. what happened to the days when you had to be creative with mixing and think about which songs go well together because there was actually some level of diversity in sound? and you people vote armin into the top 5 dj's in the world...that's just pathetic...

Actually, it's not a mixed album. It's a compilation of unmixed tracks from the Armada backcatalogue, presumably aimed at CDJs or nonvinyl buyers who are interested in full versions in a tidy package.

Non mixed you say?

Posted by AlphaStarred on Jun-13-2005 20:25:

Probly the best compilation of 05', if not the best post-millenium compilation ever.

From armadamusic.nl:

"After more than 40 releases on the A State of Trance label, we are going to release a double cd containing the first 20 releases. All tracks are unmixed so it will be a big favourite among CDJ DJs."

hehe... missed an important fact there jason.

that would be pretty pathetic though... just put first 20 songs out and mix them based on release date.

I wouldnt go that far but there are quite a few songs on Disc 1 I enjoy. Too bad you can't buy disc 1 by itself, but my dog needs a new chew toy.

Although I probobly wouldnt like many tracks on there (with the exception of the Questia ones), this is a damn good idea.

More labels should do this. It makes them money, and makes the backcatalogue, which is probobly getting rare, available on a newer format.

I was obviously joking
I wouldn't take this compilation if it was given to me gratuitously inasmuch as i've absolutely no need for it...

I haven't heard any new trance since Mixmag gave away their Above & Beyond mix CD back in October, so I think I'll buy it purely to see what kind of stuff gets released these days.

Posted by Sykonee on Jun-14-2005 16:48:

I might get it just because it's such a rarity: an unmixed trance compilation!

I think this is a very good idea, it will make it more 'cool' to play older classics.

A lot DJs will only use the newest tunes and kinda feel it's uncool to play anything older than two months.

I just think if it's good, then it should be played.
